5 Things You Need To Do Before You Start A Business

For all the lovely ladies that attended the Career Girl Academy, wasn’t it so inspiring? We got to pick up essential tips from some boss ass women on how we can take our careers to the next step. And it’s about time, right? With every business comes concerns. Fears and anxieties of failure keep us from playing the game. But it’s time to start, because if you don’t try, how will you know? I get it, you’re unsure, we’re all unsure. Take a look at these tell-tale signs, and see if you’re ready to grow your business.

1. Understand your market

I think an important thing to remember is not to get discouraged. There may be six gazillion businesses out there, but there are seven billion people in the world. That’s so many people who are interested in different things. Know your niche and take advantage of this. It doesn’t matter if your niche is one thousand people across the world, you’re reaching out to a certain part of the market that needs something. Know your readers, know your customers. Once you understand their needs and wants, you’re ready to strategize and take it to the next level!

2. Produce something worthwhile

Products, content, services, they all have to be worth the money and time you’re putting into them. You need to know your target market, too! Content is probably one of the hardest things to get right, but trial and error will sharpen your skills quickly with this one. It ties into the previous point, understanding your market means writing to satisfy them. Once your content meets your target market and can draw them in, you’d be foolish not to grow your business.

3. Be consistent

One major important thing is consistency. Just think about it, your customer needs to trust you. If they don’t consider you reliable they won’t buy the products you recommend, for example. The easiest way to build up this relationship is with consistency. Be consistent with your branding, your messages, your customer service, and you’ll eventually be known for it!

4. Have a plan for revenue

Of course, the dream would be to make money off doing what we love. But, sometimes money comes later. Once you’ve grown and become established that’s when money gravitates towards you. There are ways to make money, but it’s small money and unfortunately, won’t be paying your bills. Basically, do it because you’re passionate about it, work really hard and the money will come. Once you see growth and can predict your earnings, you know you’re ready to grow.

5. Think about your growth

Now, you may have done all the work getting here by yourself. But there is no way you can do it all by yourself. I mean no way! It’s impossible. I know us women are brilliant multi-taskers and that, but sometimes it’s great to have someone to motivate you when you can’t. Get yourself an awesome team, who love your business just as much as you do! If you have one already, you’re nailing it Career Girl!
