We don’t function well when we don’t have a good morning routine. Most of us can’t face the day without a coffee, but the best part of my early morning routine includes drinking a steaming mug of Earl Gray tea followed by a large glass of lemon water.

We all drink it, but why? Why is lemon water so amazing? It’s a prescribed cure-all for every single thing in life, and we gulp it down without knowing its full benefits!

1. Keep your body hydrated and moisturized
Lemons are packed with essential nutrients b-complex vitamins, calcium, fiber, iron, magnesium, potassium, and vitamin c (30-50 mg per lemon!). Many of these essential electrolytes help keep your body hydrated. (Also, think about it this way: while sleeping, you have not hydrated your body for 6-8 hours. Starting your morning off with a tall glass of lukewarm lemon water helps get your body hydrated and ready to go.)

2. Boosting your immune system
The vitamin c found in lemon water boosts your immune system helping prevent you from falling ill. When you’re sick or stressed out, your body’s level of vitamin c plummets.

Lemon water helps relieve symptoms associated with bloating, gas, heartburn, and indigestion by loosening the toxins in your digestive tract. The pectin fiber in lemons helps fight food cravings, so if you drink it in the morning you’re less likely to snack during the day.

Lukewarm lemon water also helps flush the toxins from your liver by enhancing and stimulating bile production, enzyme function, and stomach acid production. Sounds gross, is actually good for you!
