It’s important we listen to our gut, sometimes. Stop working and actually feed ourselves. But we all know, it’s so much easier for us to do three things. Reheat leftovers, order take out or head out for dinner.
There’s nothing wrong with that, but it’s important to eat healthily, and the best way to do that is to cook meals from home! With that in mind, here are our favorite cookbooks!
#1 The Healthy Mind Cookbook by Rebecca Katz
This is a great cookbook for those who want to start healthy cooking. The best place to start is in the mind. After explaining the connection between the many emotions and unique foods, Rebecca takes you from cultivating a “mind-blowing taste and flavor” to soups, veggies, meats and drinks! I’m not one to spoil but I highly recommend the Avocado Citrus Salad and the Chocolate Cherry Walnut Truffles. Ahhhmazing!
#2 Everyday Easy by Lorraine Pascale
Lorraine’s latest cookbook is for the Career Girl with health goals who wants little to no aggravation in the kitchen. This cookbook achieves that and more. The recipes are fun, wholesome and, with Lorraine’s wit, very entertaining. Whether you are staying in, having lunch for one or dinner for five, this book is the one for you.
#3 Soul Food Love by Alice Randall and Caroline Randall Williams
Yes, ladies, it is possible! You can eat healthily and satisfy your soulful-bliss! This book is a mother-daughter duo. Alice and Caroline walk you through their southern-soul-food recipes step-by-step, illustrating the behind-the-scenes of a strong African-American Woman kitchen. The two honor their traditions while still making fun, healthy and indulging meals. Great cookbook!
#4 Feast by Sarah Copeland
This one is for the vegetarian Career Girl- no meat and no seafood. Despite the critic, being a vegetarian does not mean your food has to be boring or bland. Sarah introduces you to a new way of approaching vegetables when it comes to cooking. So whether you are strictly veggies or choosing to cut back on the meats, you’ll be in good hands with this cookbook.
#5 The Craft of Baking by Karen DeMasco
By no means is it logical for us to forget about desserts! The Craft of Baking is a great cookbook for when you want to dabble in sweets, treats or to-go munchies for the day. Karen leaves room for you to make accommodations to what you want in your healthy treats from granolas to tart-cakes. Let’s be honest, the best touch is your own and with the amount of treats in this book, you can’t go wrong. As for us, the almond pound cake is a winner!
