Why Gigi Hadid Is Planning A Month Long Social Media Break

Gigi Hadid is a busy career girl. From walking the VS show in Paris, to being the face of Maybelline, and, of course she has been on the cover of many Vogue issues. Like the beautiful shot above for Vogue Germany.

“I’m taking a month off social media, actually, during the New Year. I’m not deleting my account, I’m just taking the apps off my phone. It’s empowering – not just for people in the spotlight, [but] for everyone. At the end of the day, I’m choosing what I’m showing you.”

“A lot of the world feels so entitled to other peoples’ lives, which is so crazy. I’m going to take a break when I feel like it, and when I come back and share it with you, if you want to be supportive and still follow me, that’s great. But, if you’re going to be upset that I need to be human for a month, then maybe I don’t want your follow anyway.”

Lena Dunham agreed, saying: “Gigi and I were on the phone for hours talking about a social media incident, and we were talking about the fact that sometimes you just have to shut the computer down.”

It’s true but many bloggers will probably agree that it’s almost impossible! Because that’s how they earn money and are able to pay their bills – because of social media and blogging!

    • I agree with you so much!! It our job and we can’t stay away from a month but one day we might be able to have such luxury

  • I think it is so interesting when celebrities take time away from social media. As blogger it is my job to be online and it is wonderful to take time away because sometime you need a break.

  • I agree we all need to take a break sometimes. I understand the bloggers who do it for a living and think this is not possible for them (a month is a long time!), but wonder if you’re able to schedule some posts over the weekend or take an afternoon off. I know it may sound like not much, but a little bit of time here and there might do the trick.
