Weekday makeup can be tricky – you don’t have much time, you’re probably tired,  and you don’t want to look overdone. What you need is a quick, easy and long-lasting look that will get you through the day, looking professional and put-together.

After all, while we’re out achieving our goals, the last thing we need is our makeup letting us down. Here are a few products that will make mornings so much easier!

1. Start with a CC cream

10939001-1874444629725136In the morning, you need a product that’s easy to apply, and in professional settings, you can’t really crack out the ultra HD foundation. A CC cream is a great alternative to heavier foundations and will help you create a more natural look. In the morning, you can use it to correct your skin tone and protect from the sun. Darphin Paris CC Cream is a work-friendly multi-benefit product. It’ll give you a glowing but flawless coverage, eliminate redness and help you get a dose of SPF before you walk out of the door. Available here.

2. Help your makeup stay on all day

Throughout the day your makeup will smudge, rub off, and maybe even melt a little bit. It’s normal, we all touch our faces, and sit by the heater during winter. The thing is, you don’t want to walk into a meeting looking frazzled. So a good setting powder or fixing spray should become your work best friend.

Urban Decay’s brand new Chill spray is the one for work days. It’s a weightless, moisture-resistant spray that works for 12 hours. It’s also a great spritz of cool, fresh water in the morning. Available here.

3. Go easy on the eyes

Less is definitely more when it comes to weekday makeup, so a slick of a neutral eyeshadow or eyeliner and a little mascara is perfect. A palette of neutral shadows is a great way to subtly change your day look without going over the top or try a brown eyeliner instead of black for a softer, subtle day look.

Charlotte Tilbury’s Luxury Palette is perfect for work looks, it contains some gorgeous understated neutrals and a couple of shimmery, gorgeous shades too. So you can have a bit of understated sparkle or quickly create a smokey look for after work drinks! Plus it fits in your pocket! Available here.

4. Choose small multi-taskers

If your handbag or work rucksack is anywhere near as full as ours, a small makeup bag with a few key products is much more realistic than taking your whole makeup collection to work every day. So making some clever purchases can save you important bag space.

Products like Nars The Multiple sticks are amazing, they highlight, sculpts and warms the eyes, cheeks, and lips in an array of shades. From blush to contour, to highlight, to concealing, you can get a stick that does anything. Available here.

4. Stash a neutral lipstick in your desk drawer

Some lipsticks do last all day, but they do tend to be quite drying. So stashing a spare lipstick in your desk drawer is a great idea for a mid-day swipe. Pick a pretty pink or peachy nude in a moisturizing formula so a pretty, easy pop of color.

Chanel Rouge Allure is a matte but non-drying lipstick that’s moisturizing yet velvet. It’s classic and the perfect understated neutral work lipstick and it won’t smudge or bleed. Available here.

  • I always use my CC cream – so minimal and quick for an everyday look where I don’t have anyone to impress at work!

  • Great advice and patting myself on the back for pretty much following all of it. I go for a tinted moisturiser, NARS multiple in orgasm, brown eyeliner, mascara and a tawny pink lippy :)
