How To Make 2018 Your Best Year Yet

@freddieharrel

We Career Girls always strive for more. Last year may have been a good year but we want 2018 to be even better. We want to be better and we want our careers to continue to excel. And as ambitious women, it’s our number one priority. We see the new year as the chance to improve and achieve the goals we set for ourselves and we’ve decided not to take no for an answer. So, if you want to make 2018 the best year yet then here’s how:

1. Take your goals to the next level

So, by now you should be used to setting goals! And I bet you’ve ticked a few off of your list and are ready to start setting some new ones. But this year don’t just set the usual goals, you need to build on your original main ones. This year, for example, your business could have made x amount, but what are you going to do to expand that? Every goal you should set you should kick it up a notch, make it more challenging and harder.

You can easily achieve your goals with the Getting Things Done Kit, a box of essentials that will help you get your life together. Containing the Ultimate Week Plan, the best-selling Getting Things Done Planner plus motivational stickers and a gold pen, this box will help you stay on track with your goals. Buy it here.

2. Get serious about saving

Ok, so I bet you’re not new to saving, but this year you really need to get more serious about it. I myself am getting older and instead of following the millennial attitude of spending rather than saving, I’ve decided to switch things up. Mortgages and houses just don’t happen, you’ve got to save and work towards them.

This year create a financial plan and see how much you can afford to save each month. Don’t worry if the amount changes, you’ll have to do what you can afford but just start thinking about the future and setting yourself up for it.

3. Divide your time well

If there’s one thing I think we all need a little help with it’s dividing our time. And I don’t know about you but most of my time goes to my work life and whatever’s left to my social life. But it’s not balanced and it’s not healthy. Buy yourself a diary, and schedule out your week every Sunday.

Schedule in time for the gym, time for friends, time for your personal projects. Before you know it you may have a jammed packed week but you’ll be doing all the stuff you usually wish you could do. But don’t forget to pencil in some down time too, because you can’t be on the go all the time!

4. Go the extra mile

I bet you’re already used to going the extra mile for your boss and your friends but this year step it up. I did a bit of reflection this year where I saw that I could have done more here and there not only for my friends but for my work life. Think about it yourself, is there more you could have done at a certain point?

Then make sure you to always go above and beyond next year for the ones you love, your colleagues and your boss. And trust me, it will pay off!

5. Expand your knowledge

I always used to be hungry to be knowledgeable and learn new things. But recently I’ve found myself too busy for it and not finding any use in it. But that’s where I’m wrong. Everything you learn could be of value in your job and in your everyday life.

There are a lot of free online courses that you can do which will help you show off at your next meeting. In order to be taken seriously as a Career Girl, you need to always be learning new things and applying them!
