10 Life Lessons We All Learned From The Spice Girls

Ah, the Spice Girls. Is there any woman alive today who didn’t benefit from their wisdom? I doubt it. OK, don’t ask your gran, but their reach as the biggest band in the world made them a household name. Here are the important lessons that Career Girls have learned from the Spice Girls:

Some days you’re Baby, some days you’re Posh.

You don’t have to limit yourself to just being one thing. I don’t know anyone who played Spice Girls when they were a kid who didn’t have to play Gerri at some point. The Spice Girls let us try out personalities like they were clothes, and we loved every minute of it!

Your relationship with your mother will only become more important as you get older.

Being 9, I totally didn’t get this, as my mother seemed to be the only barrier to my spending my entire allowance on Spice Girls paraphernalia. Being 26 is a different story…

There’s nothing you can’t do without 4 good friends.

Tasks include trashing a fancy party, touring around London on a double-decker bus, or wearing plastic leather outfits in the middle of a dessert.

Sometimes you have to let friends go.

Even if it hurts, even if it doesn’t feel good at the time, sometimes you have to let people go in order for them to be happy.

Platform heels will never not be in style.

You’re just going to have to trust me on this one if you’ve not experienced themโ€”the height of a platform with the comfort of a flat was every 90’s girl’s dream, and for me, it’s still #shoegoals.

If your guy isn’t cool with your friends, that’s a red flag.

If he wants to be your lover, he’s gotta get with your friends. Who wants a boyfriend who doesn’t see how amazing your friends are?

Reunions are just the best.

Sometimes it’s brunch. Sometimes it’s a world tour. Catching up with people who really mean something to you is the best antidote to nostalgia!

Good friends will stand by what’s in your closet.

True friends will support you wearing a bikini top under a puffy jacket, or pigtails every day, or your endless supply of Little Gucci Dresses.

There’s always bigger and better.

All the girls went on to have satisfying careers, smashing success wherever they went. If you’re a hard worker, you’ll smash success wherever you are.

Girl Power.

Always, without a doubt. Girl Power.

I was such a big fan of the Spice Girls when I was a young girl, especially sporty spice.

Pretty sure this post was written for me. Like, seriously, I can’t even begin to explain how important the Spice Girls were in my childhood & even to this day. They bring me an unexplainable amount of happiness & the days when they were popular were some of my very best memories. When I grow up, I STILL hope to be a Spice Girl ;)

The Spice Girls were my jam! I lost track of how many times I watched Spice World and one of my fondest childhood memories is performing one of their songs with some friends for the school talent show in elementary school. ’90s nostalgia + girl power, baby! ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ
