Whether you’re more Bridget Jones than Angelina Jolie chances are you haven’t got it all figured out, no one has. Being a woman is exhausting, we balance relationships, friendships and family all whilst trying to squeeze in a little bit of fun from time to time.
As tempting as it is to cling onto every ounce of your childhood being an adult is actually rather exciting. As time goes on we learn how to deal with the good, the bad and the damn right ugly but that is what makes life so precious. Its okay to eat a share sized chocolate bar to yourself once in a while and it’s definitely okay to accept that everything is not okay sometimes. We are all still learning and the best thing about being part of such a wonderful supportive community is that we can all learn together. #1 Learn to be happy by yourself.
Being single can sometimes feel a little lonely, especially when all of your friends seem settled and in a relationship. Really it just means you have the power to be free and achieve whatever it is you want to. It also means you can get up and dance to Beyoncé and not even feel bad about it and to me that is a good enough reason.
#2 Family comes first.
Nothing is more important than your family, your friends and your loved ones, not even your career. Cherish the people you love and you will never have any regrets.
#3 Don’t bottle up emotions.
Crying for no reason is actually perfectly normal, it’s what makes us human. Crying because you’re upset, hurt or heartbroken is also perfectly fine, if you bottle it up it will only eat away at you.
#4 Love yourself.
As you get older you will realise that it’s far easier to love and accept your flaws than it is to punish yourself because of them. Be the woman who is remembered for her witty humor, sassy independence and huge heart. No one really cares about your frizzy hair!
#5 Never underestimate yourself.
People will doubt you, even those closest to you. Its okay to be quietly confident and it will be all the more satisfying when you prove them all wrong.
#6 Don’t chase money, chase happiness.
Money may buy you a Mulberry Alexa but it won’t buy you love, success or happiness.
#7 Look after your body.
Its all about keeping a balance, it’s okay to indulge in a takeaway pizza and a large tub of ice cream from time to time, we have all been there. Just remember that you only get one body, you need to fuel it with a healthy balanced diet to really get the most out of it.
#8 Things can change in just a day.
Whatever is making you unhappy today could completely change by tomorrow, don’t hold onto the bad things because it’s not until you let go that good things can come your way.
#9 Time heals.
Whether it’s a breakup, a loss of a good friend or a family member or even a career knock-back time really does heal. You never know what is around the corner, that is the beautiful thing about life.
#10 Take risks.
If it doesn’t scare you then it’s not worth doing, take a risk and even if it doesn’t work out at least you can say you gave it your best shot.
#11 Everything happens for a reason.
Sometimes you have to put faith in knowing that things will have a way of sorting themselves out.
#12 Don’t forget to laugh.
Sometimes you can get so caught up in the daily stress of life that you can forget to just stop and enjoy the little things.
#13 Forget the small stuff.
Learn to stop stressing about the smaller things in life, if you wont remember it in a weeks time then why waste all your time and energy worrying about it.
#14 Cherish your friendships.
Friends are so important, they make you laugh, they support you and good ones are often irreplaceable so don’t forget to love them.
#15 You are not alone.
Don’t feel like you have everything under control? Don’t worry, the chances are neither does anyone else.
