The 2-Minute Stress Release Routine Our Editors Swear By

Sometimes stress is unavoidable. There are days when you just have too much to do and not enough time to do everything. And those days it’s easy to let stress get the better of you.

For days like that, when you know you might get a little overwhelmed, this stress release sequence is perfect. You might have even seen me demonstrating this on Snapchat!


Neom Hand Balms


1. Start with an essential oil or a hand balm 

We’re loving Neom Organics Nourish Breathe And Calm Hand Balm at the moment, it’s in our office in constant rotation. But you can also use an aromatherapy oil like Aromatherapy Associates Pure Essential Oil.

2. Rub a pea-sized amount in between your hands and massage in.

This bit feels lovely, so you should try to choose something not too thick or oily, but something that releases those amazing scents and makes your hands feel nice.

3. Cup your hands over your mouth and nose and breathe deeply for seven to eight seconds.

Don’t worry about being weird with it, I’m always a little weird when doing this bit. But it’s really relaxing.

4. Breathe out for eleven seconds and remove hands from face.

You can close your eyes too, which will make it feel much more relaxing. If it’s not too weird to close your eyes in the office…I do it anyway.

5. Repeat until relaxed.

Voilá! It seems so simple, but it really gives us a relaxed yet energized feeling. It works just as well with an essential oil, and will definitely keep any stress at bay. The action of remembering to take deep breaths combined with scents that are renowned for stress relief really helps to kick-start your mind and get you in the right mental space to work! We love this little routine.
