It’s officially the rise of the Career Girl. We can’t help but notice the abundance of career driven, inspiring ladies that are setting up their own businesses all before they hit 30. We admire these ambitious 20 somethings doing it for themselves, just read our article about what we can learn from Kylie Jenner’s business, and it appears to be a growing trend amongst millennials – so why are more 20 somethings starting their own businesses?

Increased Flexibility
There’s no denying that one of the most appealing benefits of starting your own business is flexibility. Not all of us are made for the 9-5, it’s an old-fashioned way of working in many respects, and some of us will find that we’re most creative at the crack of dawn or late evening. Being your own boss allows you to choose your working hours. Holiday request forms will also become a thing of the past, hello freedom!

You Make the Rules
If you don’t work well under an authority and prefer to do it your way, then owning your own business is definitely for you. You get to make the rules here and there’s no one getting in your way.

Hello Creativity
You can unleash your creative side in all of its glory. You can have a hand in all aspects of your business and there’s no one to stop you putting an idea forward or putting down any of your suggestions.

A New Challenge
We millennials are a career driven, eager bunch. We like a challenge and we like to test ourselves. Starting your own business can offer a daunting yet exciting experience. It’s the appeal of the unknown and what it could bring that appeals to so many 20 somethings. You just have to chase that dream. Check out our article on business etiquette rules every twenty-something should own.

Online World
The internet has brought about SO many opportunities than we could have previously imagined. It’s now easier than ever to create your own business, and with social media providing a fantastic platform to get the word out there, the opportunities are endless. With a lot of hard work too, of course. Click here to find out how Snapchat could be the key to a successful business here.

Is starting a business something you have considered?

Yes! I love this post. As a 21-year-old girl in a full time 9-5 job who is pursuing her own ‘side hustle’, I can totally relate. It can be a bit of a full on journey, especially when you’re building a business and working full time, but it’s so worth it. So many young women desire to do their own thing! We want the flexibility to be creative, to create our own structure, and to be our own bosses! X
