2020 is fast approaching, and if you’re wondering how to live your best life, you’re in the right place. It feels like November is going to be over in a flash, and Christmas will be with us in no time at all. When you’re busy, this means you need to prep ahead and get organized well in advance. This usually means starting your gift list in October, buying and wrapping them towards the end of November, and organizing travel and food in the next few weeks.
Similarly, if you want to make sure that you start 2020 on the right foot, you’ll need to start planning for it right now. This is your chance to make time for the things you didn’t have much of in 2018. To find out what you need to add more of to your life in order to make you happier, healthier, and live your best life. So grab a pen and let’s get started…
STEP ONE: GET ORGANIZED
Before you begin, you need the right tools to help you plan this out. You can’t expect to reflect and plan your year on scrap bits of paper. And even typing it up won’t help you stick to it. The best way to stay on top of your goals is to write them down, triggering your brain to stick to something. The first step on knowing how to live your best life is definitely getting organized!
To really get into the heart of next year and make sure you remember to do all the things you planned and embrace happiness, you need to plan your daily and monthly goals. The Goals 2019 – 2020 Diary will help you work through next year already, adding in key dates, monthly goals, and things you need to remember. Pair this with the Getting Stuff Done planner to stay on top of every single day, and you’ll have a winning formula when it comes to staying on track in 2020.

STEP TWO: LOOKING BACK
To start moving forward, you need to look back. How did 2018 go for you? What would you add to it that would make it a happier year? Make a list of a few things that maybe could have changed to make your year happier and healthier. This isn’t an opportunity to fret over things you didn’t get a chance to do, but to write them down and use them as starting points to make next year count.
STEP THREE: LOOKING FORWARD
Decide on your goals for next year right now, if you haven’t already. Not just career goals, but personal development goals. What do you want to do that will bring more happiness into your life? Make a list and write them out in your Goals 2019 – 2020 Diary around the dates that you need to remember them. For example, make notes for yourself for November next year already, if you know that this is usually a stressful month. Remind yourself of the little things that will bring in more happiness.
Give yourself reminders every month (and week) in your planner for next year, so that as you’re working through it, you remember to step back, go outside, make more time for the things that make you happy, and work on yourself.
STEP FOUR: BRING IN THE HAPPINESS
While you’re working on what will make you happy next year, it’s important to think about this year. List ten things that made you happy this year so far, your ten happiest moments of 2018. This will show you what you need to make time for in 2020 if travel made you happy this year, list the places you want to go next year. If you smashed your goals and boosted your confidence, think about the ways you can step it up for next year.
STEP FIVE: PUT YOURSELF FIRST
Often we think that putting ourselves first means taking a bath and applying a face mask. But if you want to have a happy life in 2020, that’s not going to cut it. You’ll need to remember that nobody else is going to fight your battles but you. To be happier you need to make a list of things you need for 2020. The knowledge you need to gain, skills you need to build on, weaknesses you need to accept and the strengths you need to play on.
You need to make a list of the negative influences in your life and detox them. Friends of mine have given up social media entirely during the week, choosing instead to only dabble on the weekends. This year it’s all about what adds to your life, so anything that takes the positivity away needs to go. The best tip on how to live your best life in 2020 we know, is to surround yourself with positive people and forget the rest.
