Photo & Other Stories

Many of us dream of one day running our own businesses. But how do you know if you’re cut out for it? Or how do you know it’s the right thing to do? Building an empire is certainly no easy feat and is not for the faint-hearted.

Although, girls, if that’s your dream – you’ve just got to go it! Because no-one else will do is going to make you a success. If you are an aspiring entrepreneur, here are three questions you should ask yourself to find out if it really is for you.

1. Are you sure about your passion?

Starting your own business is a big step, so you should be sure that this is really your passion.

Can you imagine working in this area for your entire life? And can you actually make a future out of it? I believe what makes a successful entrepreneur is a relentless drive to reach their dreams, because when you face challenge after challenge, it will be your passion that will see you through!

The next step, find out how to turn that passion into a pay cheque!

2. Are you willing to take risks?

Running your own business bears a whole lot of risks and sacrifices – and we are not just talking financially.

Are you in a position in your life where you’re able to take risks? Having a plan B doesn’t necessarily mean that you don’t really believe in your plan A, it can also mean that you’re willing to adapt and problem solve when things don’t work out. And trust us, things won’t work out the way you imagine.

Don’t let that scare you off though and follow our tips on how to start planning like an entrepreneur!

3. Are you willing to take responsibility?

Okay, time to get serious. Starting and running your own business comes with a lot of responsibilities, and these responsibilities fall on no-one else other than you! But don’t worry because there are hundreds of services and support networks out there to help get you started.

Great questions and I would add another one – Are you wiling to make sacrifices in your personal life to work longer hours if necessary? When you are running own business you can’t always work Monday to Friday 9-5 pm. You have to be willing to go above and beyond in order to really make it work. Great article. Thank you for sharing!
