Scientists say that it takes up to 21 days of consistent behavior for it to become a habit. This would mean that 21 days of healthy eating, drinking water, working out and going to bed early can become your ‘lifestyle’ if you do it consistently for those 3 weeks.
Elle US did an article on ‘getting into shape in just 2 weeks’. The girl who wrote the article, tried to get herself in killershape by clean living and working out. She admitted in the end that it did not become her lifestyle and that she went back to normal after the two weeks.
So how can we change our lifestyle in just 21 day? CGD gives you 3 rules you need to stick to in order to make that happen!
1. SET PERSONAL GOALS AND STICK TO IT
A plan is most likely to fail when there is no clear goal or purpose. Set a realistic personal goal for yourself and stick to it. Set your goals and to-do list as your wallpaper on your phone, laptop and stick post-its with your goal and to-do list everywhere possible in your room. This way you will not loose your focus or forget about your goal.
2. PLAN, PREPARE AND ORGANIZE
Plan your days, schedule that gym session, make an eating plan for the week, stick to the necessary ingredients when you are in the supermarket and prepare your breakfast and lunches a couple of days in advance. This not only saves you a lot of time, you are also more like to stick to you plan and goals because you already prepared it.
3. KEEP TRACK OF YOUR RESULTS AND FEELING
When you see the result and know how ‘good’ you body feels after these 21 days, you will be thankful that you sticked to your plan. Keep track of these results and feelings and see what worked for you and what you need to change. The routine that you made for yourself and worked for you, has become your habit now.
