The 3-Step Ritual That Will Help You Relax On A Sunday

I like to think I’ve got a pretty good work/life balance these days. I write my Monday to-do list on a Friday evening, shut my laptop at the right time, schedule something fun on a Friday night or Saturday afternoon, and treat myself on a Sunday.

It’s important to give your mind and body a rest and make your weekends feel longer by scheduling in fun things and excursions. Try this 3-step ritual on a Sunday and let me know if you feel ready to tackle Monday like a boss!

Step 1: Run yourself an aromatherapy bath

There’s nothing better than a relaxing bath on a Sunday, and the power of aromatherapy oils can seriously help you get into the right mood to tackle the week. Run a warm bath, get inside and visualize your week. I love Aromatherapy Associates Inner Strength bath oil at the moment, the blend of scents helps you to feel in control yet relaxed. Find out more about it here.

Step 2: One hour no technology

Once you’re out of the bath and have presumably done your evening routine (mine consists of a charcoal face mask and lots of moisturizer) you should go for one hour without checking your phone. Open a book and read for one hour exactly, set a timer and go. Allow your brain to focus on other things, and other worlds, and don’t focus too much on work or your mounting to-dos. If you need some recommendations, try one of these great books.

Step 3: Journal before bed

Arianna Huffington swears by this, it’s a great way to clear your mind and avoid staying awake thinking about the week ahead of you, write down everything that’s on your mind and tell yourself you’re leaving it in your journal. Drink a large glass of water and then get into bed and start winding down. I write around 1000 words before I go to bed, which sounds like a lot but isn’t actually, and I sleep like a baby every single night these days!

  2. I really want to get into either journaling or writing morning pages, but I just can’t get into the habit of doing it! Sometimes it feel like a chore, which it definitely shouldn’t feel like! Maybe it is all about turning it into a habit somehow, I just haven’t figured out yet how to do it exactly.

  3. All great idea, wish I had a tub, a aromatherapy bath does sound lovely.
