Olivia Pope is the lead character in Scandal (played by Kerry Washington). She worked her way to a prominent, but not political, position in Washington. She is interconnected, has friends and enemies, and is able to assert herself clearly, leaving no room for misunderstanding. Obviously, there are some things we can learn from her.
#1 – It’s okay to admit defeat
The road to success is not always straight.“Dreams don’t have deadlines.” Most people who are now seen as successful by the rest of the world, didn’t get there quickly, or didn’t get there without their own share of personal failures, and even some of who were told that they would never get there.
# 2 – Embrace your unique talents
Olivia embraces her unique talents. The truth is, your talents and the things you’re passionate about are what define you as a person. It’s your job to embrace these things and become the real you.
#3 – Set your standards high
Try for what you want, a dream is a seed, and never settle for less. Having high personal standards will almost immediately force personal growth, and will help you live up to your potential day after day
#4 – Always believe in yourself
Olivia knows she is the best at what she does and that is why she is so successful. It doesn’t really matter what other people think you should be doing with your life. All that matters is that YOU know what you’re doing with your life.
Great and useful post!
