4 Morning Routines For A Healthier Body

Monday morning blues: 5 ways to help you get through it

Getting ready in the morning is so tough! When that alarm goes off, all we want to do is turn it off and spend 10 more minutes in bed. When we finally manage to get up, we’re rushing to shower, get dressed, and do our make-up, wondering if we’ll have the time to grab a bite to eat before heading for work. By the time we get there, we’re already exhausted!

All that rush isn’t good for us. These bad habits take their toll on our bodies, damage our health, and makes us so unproductive too. But, there’s a quick fix. Just incorporate 4 simple habits in your morning routine.

They won’t take more than 30 minutes, and will make you start the day much more energized, calm, and healthy:

1. Swap coffee for lemons…
A good cup of coffee feels so good in the morning. But, hold that thought a little longer. Starting the day with a tall glass of lemon water is much healthier for our bodies. Lemons are high in minerals and vitamins, such as vitamin C, which aid digestion, speed up metabolism, and helps the body detoxify.

Just make sure you use a straw and rinse your mouth well afterwards to protect your enamel. A popular book with more then 100 recipes to improve your health, energy, immune system, memory, and digestion is Raw and Simple Detox

2. Start by meditating.
The day ahead is going to be full of challenges, deadlines, and even stress. We’ll be able to face all that’s coming our way more easily and gracefully if we’re relaxed and balanced. Meditation helps. Just sit, or lie, in a quiet room and practice breathing in and out. If your mind starts to wander, gently bring the focus back to your breathe. See how calming and relaxing it is? Best of all, you don’t need to wake up an hour earlier just to meditate. 10 minutes (or 7 when you’re in a rush), are enough to start the day calm and relaxed. A great book on meditation is Meditation Made Easy. As simple introduction to meditation with 50 guided daily practices that will help you find inner peace.

3. Do a little exercise every day.
Jumpstart your day and energize your body with a quick workout routine. You don’t need to hit the gym (unless you want). Yoga, dancing, walking, running and stretching work just as well. Anything that gets your body moving is good. It gives you energy, releases tension, and sharpens the mind, helping you to start the day on the right foot and keep your body healthy (and looking amazing). Just 10 minutes a day are enough (especially if a trip to the gym is on your to-do list for the day).

4. Don’t eat what’s cheap and quick, have a nutritious meal in the morning!
As tempting as it is to skip breakfast and spend 10 more minutes in bed, don’t. How are you supposed to have the energy to work, play, run errands, and do everything you need to do during your hectic day if you deprive your body of the fuel it needs to keep going? Blend a smoothie, add some flaxseeds to your cereals, and eat your favourite fruit. You’ll feel much better, and be able to accomplish so much more!

Theses tips are really helpful because this year my resolution is to become a healthier person mentally and physically! I will try to incorporate these small things into my morning routine! Thanks for sharing! http://livingblissfullybalance.weebly.com

    • I’m trying to be better too! Healthy food actually gives me a whole lot more energy than say a burger (as delicious as they are!!!) :) x

Love it when I do these things in the morning and I do feel so much more productive. .. but it’s so tempting in the winter to stay wrapped up! I try and do as much night prep as I can… things like breakfast and lunch can sit in the fridge and be thrown in a bag to go to work!

These tips are all totally awesome and things that I am actually currently doing and I can tell you that they have definitely made a huge difference!

Really good tips – glad to see such a list on CGD! At the moment my commute takes up the bulk of my morning (considering I’m up at 6:30) but I’m looking to add back in meditation and daily yoga rather than just gym sessions in the evenings!

    • Hi Besma! Glad you like them, I’m trying to be healthier too, so I make my breakfasts overnight and put them in the fridge, giving me a little more time to chill. Smoothies and overnight oats are my staples right now! :) x

You’re right, overnight oats are a lifesaver (and also delicious)! x

Really enjoyed this list! I find it difficult to squeeze in anything more than breakfast and getting ready and out the door asap as I am up very early in the day!
