Having the right mindset is absolutely key to becoming a successful person. Success doesn’t just land on people’s laps when they’re not expecting it, you have to work hard and be the best person you possible can to start achieving.
At CGD we’re working hard to succeed too, and here are 4 Simple Steps To Improve Your Mindset And Be A Success that we live by.
#1 Always have a purpose. Do you think Donald Trump ever went into a meeting under prepared? Or sat at his desk twiddling his thumbs, wondering whether he’s should grab a coffee or get started on a presentation or business plan? NO. Have a purpose with everything you do. Write a to-do list for the week, break it down into days or even hours! Know what you’re aiming for and what you need to tick off to get there.
#2 Be grateful. Everything you have right now; your friends, your family, your home and your life, they are all things you should be grateful for every day. Wanting success and wanting more doesn’t mean you’re not happy with what you’ve got, take a look around and enjoy what you have right now, knowing it’s only going to get better. Successful people come from all manor of backgrounds and should appreciate every step of the way.
#3 Interval train your brain. We talk about how amazing HIIT and interval training is for your body, so why not apply it to your brain too! Try focussing on a task and work as hard as you can at it, no distractions, for 15 minutes then rest for 2-3 and repeat. It’s a similar method to The Pomodoro Technique we told you about in a previous article. It is hard work and you do have to stick at it, but it’s totally worth it if you’re serious about working toward your goal. Eventually, you’re brain evolves and is able to concentrate for longer periods of time, can work harder and be more productive!
#4 Believe. You know what your goal is? Visualise it and believe in yourself achieving it. Attitude is everything and if you doubt yourself or think you’re wasting your time reaching for a goal that’s beyond your fingertips, you’ll be a self-fulfilling prophecy. When I worked in Real Estate every morning my boss would say the same thing to me, and I used to finish the poem sarcastically every time, but now more than ever it rings true. He quoted:
“If you think you are beaten, you are; If you think you dare not, you don’t. If you’d like to win, but think you can’t. It’s almost a cinch you won’t. If you think you’ll lose, you’ve lost. For out in the world we find. Success being with a fellow’s will; It’s all in the state of mind. If you think you’re outclassed, you are: You’ve got to think high to rise. You’ve got to be sure of yourself before. You can ever win a prize. Life’s battles don’t always go. To the stronger or faster man. But soon or late the man who wins. Is the one who thinks he can.” – The Man Who Thinks He Can by Walter D. Windle.
That last line gives me shivers, if ever you need a boost, read that poem again!

This is amazing! I’m gonna be reading that poem every single day xx
I love step 3. I try my best to do this, especially around exam time. It’s made studying much more productive.
What a helpful and inspiring post!
Will definitely be referring back to these points as I work toward my goals :)

I really like the idea of the interval training the brain. I find that if I have something critical to finish I will focus really hard and not think about anything else, but I have to admit it’s based on the level of stress more than controlled
Love all of these! My dance teacher always said “Can’t is the monster that can be tamed” whenever we whined that something was too hard.
It really is a matter of deciding that success is possible and stepping right into it.
Amazing tips! For me the first one is the best how can you go to a place without knowing where is it? Love the success tips, books, information, exc…
I Define success with 4 D’s
1. Dream: the same as start with a porpuse!

Great post, I have just started trying to actively push through on the field I have studied (Fashion Design/Marketing), and occasionally catch myself doubting “me”. This was a nice reminder to not give up and keep my eye on the prize thanks.
Thanks for the inspiration!!
