With over 3.2 million subscribers, this powerful career girl is one of the most successful YouTubers of the world. But besides funny, smart and very, very beautiful this British vlogger is just a young woman like you and I. How did she make her way to the top? Here are five career tips you should keep in mind.
1. It is okay to head in a different direction than planned
When Tanya first started, she wanted to be a make-up artist. She used her boyfriend’s webcam to make little make-up tutorials to practice and get feedback. She never expected to grow this big and be able to make a living doing what she loved most. And that’s exactly what we career girls should do too! When you work on something and it is heading in a different direction, that’s totally fine.
2. Keep on learning
This is a great one as much for your career as in personal life. Learn new stuff every day. About the people you love, the work field you’re in, about everything actually. You can never know enough. This amazing vlogger started with beauty because that was all she knew, but as she grew she learned that people wanted to see more of her personal life as well. And look at her now, still learning every day and being one of the most successful YouTubers of the internet!
3. Talk about your feelings
Especially in the hard, cold business world people expect you to be emotionless, but you’re only human. If you’re stressed out about something, open up to someone you trust. Maybe a colleague can help you by taking something off your plate or a good friend can make you feel better by putting it in a different perspective. Tanya told her followers on her blog about her stress and anxiety problems and it only made her feel understood for once. So never bottle it up, trust me it will make you feel even worse!
4. Respect others
There are plenty of YouTubers out there, so the competition is huge. But Tanya never saw her fellow vloggers as rivals. She actually became close friends with some of them. This is probably my favourite advice from her ever. Don’t be jealous on others, respect them and work harder to achieve your goals. There is enough hate in the world already and you never know what someone could mean for you in the future.
5. Take chances
When she started, she never expected to have her own book, cosmetic line and a successful blog. She just uploaded videos and that about was it. But during her adventure she took chances and stayed focused. So if you feel like there is a unique opportunity right in front of you, go for it! You’ll regret it if you don’t!
