A ‘No Makeup’ Makeup Routine With Only 5 Beauty Products

As a self-professed makeup junkie, I love to experiment with different looks all the time – the brighter, the better.

But, sometimes, I like to keep it natural and simple, too. That’s when I go for the “no makeup” makeup look. Problem is, it sometimes requires as much effort, and as many products, as a normal makeup look.

So, if you want to achieve the no makeup look this spring, check out my favorite products below.

Unless my skin is in a really bad shape, I skip foundation on “no makeup” makeup look days. Instead, I use a good concealer on those areas of the face that need special attention, like dark circles and pimples. Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Concealer is very good at this. It has full coverage, but a natural finish, so it can cover everything for hours. Best of all, it never creases!

Eyebrows can really make or break a look, so I always make sure mine are polished. I think pencils give a more natural result than powders, which is why I love Sephora Retractable Brow Pencil. Available in six natural shades that don’t smudge or fade, it comes with a comb to brush and blend eyebrows into shape. Are eyebrows your least favorite thing? I usually use black mascaras, but I find them too harsh for the “no makeup” makeup look. They always give the secret away. That’s why I switched to brown shades, such as Clinique Lash Power Mascara Long-Wearing Formula in Dark Chocolate. This mascara lengthens my lashes in a very natural way and doesn’t smudge throughout the day.

You need a blush that’s sheer and buildable, so it’s easy to control the application to get the desired intensity. My favorite is Benefit Dandelion, a baby pink that’s very flattering on pale skin. At the moment, I’m also in love with the Benefit Cheekathon Blush & Bronzer Palette, which contains four natural-looking blush shades and the Hoola Bronzer. I love having so many choices in just one palette, don’t you?

A nude lipstick is the perfect finishing touch for the “no makeup” makeup look. I’m partial to the New Nudes Sheer Gel Lipstick by Marc Jacobs because it has a lovely texture that glides smoothly on the lips, delivering just the right amount of colour and shine. The seven shades are all very flattering, so I’m sure everyone will be able to find one to suit their skin tone.
