I get it, life can get hard sometimes and especially now that the start of the new year is upon us, chances are you want to make huge changes – well at least I do.
Most New Year’s resolutions are forgotten by the end of January and that’s why you need to stay motivated the whole year round.
Whether it’s for your health, career or social life, it is important to keep your goals in mind and stay just as excited about them as you were on January 1st.
So here are 5 books you must read to keep you motivated.
Career – #Girlboss by Sophia Amoruso
I bought this one as a present for myself when I lost my previous job. It was an horrible period and I thought reading the story of an amazing #Girlboss it would give me hope that everything was going to be fine.
And it did! Sophia Amoruso is my hero, she is such a strong and independent career girl. As the founder of Nasty Gal she achieved and learned so much and her book is definitely a must read for all young women.
Love x Style x Life by Garance Doré
“From the cafés of Paris, to the streets of New York, it all comes down to one question: what makes a person beautiful?”
After reading this first sentence I was hooked. My best friend got me this one for my birthday and I love this book so much. Garance (which is actually a pseudonym) gives you the blessed feeling you’re not alone.
Everyone has their struggles and we all want to be loved and feel gorgeous.
Combine that with her great sense of style and you get the best motivational book of the century! It actually got me excited to get out of bed in the morning and get dressed.
The Body Book by Cameron Diaz
It is no secret I love Cameron Diaz, her clothes, her style and her killer body. In this book she explains how important it is to love the body you have and how to keep it as healthy as possible.
From her own point of view to very basic and simple explanations about how our bodies actually work. It is amazing.
When I gave this book to a friend of mine – after going through it myself – I was surprised by how much I liked it. If your New Year’s resolution has anything to do with getting more healthy or changing your lifestyle this is the book you need!
Fashion & Life – Influence by Mary-Kate Olsen
If you dream of a career in fashion this is definitely the book you want to read. It has interviews with almost every big name in fashion, did anyone mention Karl Lagerfeld, Diane von Furstenberg or maybe Christian Louboutin?
It’s about how the Olsen twins influenced fashion and how they achieved their dreams and goals over the years. My New Year’s resolution…getting this book!
Love – Not that kind of girl by Lena Dunham
To me this one is a typical ‘don’t judge a book by its cover’ kind of story. My friend recommended this to me and I was a bit sceptical at first. But this book is a great motivator when it comes to love.
Lena has done a great job, like she always does. She gives advice about almost every feeling 20-somethings go through, from falling in love to feeling alone and everything in between. It’s about all kinds of love: true love, loving yourself and others around you. You have to love this book for sure.
Of course these books are all personal favourites of mine. And as you can see I’m obsessed with books written by strong inspirational women.
