5 Ways To Decorate Your Apartment Like An Interior Designer

Anyone else spend their time obsessing over decor trends? I don’t even have my own place yet and I’m already dreaming up how to decorate it, while at Uni I spent a small fortune on room accents and rugs. Decorating a space makes it feel like it’s truly yours. This season’s biggest decor trends can be incorporated into any room.

Here are five of our favorites at the moment…

1. BE BOLD AN BUSY

Don’t be afraid to go bold. This beautiful blue room would give us serious inspiration to work, because of the eclectic mixture of prints and colors. Don’t shy away from prints and statement accessories when creating a productive room, the bolder the better. This trend is best put to use in a room you don’t need to ‘switch off’ in, like your home office.

2. HOME SERENITY

Pantone’s color of the year 2016 was actually two colors, rose gold and serenity. A mixture of pinkish and blue that reflect the trend for making your house into a sanctuary. While bold and busy is perfect for a home office, tranquil and peaceful is great for your bedroom or living room. Another trend this season is ‘tech-less’ living rooms. But we’re not sure we can forgo our TV.

3. MOROCCAN DETAILS

A big trend at the moment is Moroccan details – even my parents have incorporated tiles into their bathroom, the shower is so trendy it even has a small square shelf built into the tiles. Dreamy. I’m loving this trend at the moment, so look for inspired prints and tiles if you want to incorporate it into your own house.

4. BRING THE OUTSIDE INSIDE

Plants are really good for your health, but why not bring a hint of the outside inside. This trend sees terrariums, palm trees, natural accessories and neutral decor combined to make a luxurious, wistful setting.

5. FEATURED WALL ART

If you’re stuck on what to do with your apartment or dorm room, start with a featured work of art and build the room around it. A huge trend is having a minimalistic room centered around a large, beautiful work of art. So if you want to bring some class to a room, pick your art wisely.
