5 Ridiculously Easy Ways To Upgrade Your Gift Wrapping This Year

We’re officially feeling Christmassy, with the weather turning, Netflix releasing movies like The Princess Switch for us to binge, and hot chocolate sold in every flavor, it’s definitely the most wonderful time of the year.

It might be too early to get the Christmas tree out, but it’s not too early to start thinking about your gifting options. When you’re busy, it’s a good idea to be on top of everything you need to do and prepare ahead, you might need some help planning the perfect Christmas, and you might want to start making that gift list now.

Wrapping your gifts up, that can be the tricky part. You don’t want to spend a fortune on gift wrapping services, but you don’t want to give something you’ve lovingly chosen poorly wrapped. Don’t worry; this is the perfect time to get creative and let your wrap do the talking. A few sprigs of pine or some green leaves can look natural and classic when added to plain gift wrap with a bit of twine. Something so simple can make your gift look beautiful, if you use pine the box will smell divine, too. There are plenty of ideas to add nature to your gift wrap, from pine cones to mistletoe. It instantly adds to a wrapped gift, making it look timeless and very Instagrammable. No doubt everyone will be excited to receive such prettily dressed up gifts.



A simple paper cutter can make a huge difference. We used a star paper cutter and A4 card plus some white twine to create our own pretty string wrap. You can buy a variety of shapes and punch out different colors or shapes, but we found that white stars on white twine looked chic on almost all different colors of wrapping paper. Simply attach your paper cut-outs to the string with some glue, and wrap it around your gifts. Instantly beautiful.



A simple search on Pinterest for printable gift tags for Christmas returns hundreds of results. Choose your favorite and print them out, when added to your gift wrap they make the present look professional wrapped and stylish. You don’t even have to add a name to your gift tag if you keep note of which tag slogan you’re giving to which person. You’re sure to impress your friends and family with some calligraphed tags added to your gifts.

If you’re feeling crafty, you can also purchase some plain kraft gift tags and draw on them yourself. We found it easiest to find the artwork and copy it onto the tags in pencil before filling it in with a black marker, it looks surprisingly beautiful and your friends and family will be able to tell that it’s hand-drawn, which makes it even more touching.



This is simple, all you need is dark blue or kraft wrapping paper and a sharpie. You can upgrade your wrapping paper by drawing on it with a sharpie, adding a pattern, or a name label to the wrap. Not only does this make it more personal, but it’s also a personal touch that will definitely be appreciated.

The more time and love you put into your design, the less it will look like something generic, and the more touched the recipient will be. For this simple look, we used a gold sharpie and navy blue wrap. You can add simple dots to your wrap for a chic look, and draw a snowflake or something easy in pencil and go over it with the sharpie. You can also write the recipients name on the wrap for the fully personalized experience.



Another great alternative to gift tags would be photos. Why not print your favorite photos of you and the recipient or snaps of the memories you have together and attach them to your wrap with twine. This adds to the gift as you’re giving them a small keepsake and a reminder of you when they open it.

You can print your favorite shots out on photo paper, cut them to size and add them to your gifts, that way you also know which gift is for who and are seriously raising the bar for gift wrap.
