Ombre lips are all the rage right now. They’re cool. They make your lips look bigger. And they’re incredibly easy to do. Yes, really. You don’t have to be a professional makeup artist to rock this trend. Everyone can do it. If you’re looking for makeup tips for Halloween or maybe you want to try out something different with your lips check out these easy tips:
#1. Do the prep work
Ombre lips attract attention. So, your pout must be in perfect condition. No feathering or flaking allowed. To avoid that, exfoliate your lips well. This gets rid of all the dead cells that accumulate on their surface, leaving them softer and smoother. Next, condition them with lip balm.
#2. Lay The Foundation
The next step is to apply lip liner (concealer works well too). This underrated, often-unloved lip product creates the perfect base for your lipsticks to adhere to and makes them last longer. Who wants to retouch their ombre lips every couple of hours? Certainly not us career girls.
#3. Mix and match
Pairing a bright coral red with a blue-toned purple looks amazing. When done by a pro. If you’ve never tried this look before, keep it simple. Choose shades in the same colour family, undertones included. For example, if you do two reds, make sure they’re both blue-based. Blending them will then be a breeze!
#4. Let’s paint
It’s finally time to paint those lips. Start by lining them with a lip pencil. Pull the colour slightly in towards the center. Then, blend a darker shade over it. Finally, apply the lighter lip colour on the center of your lips and work it slightly outwards. This’ll add dimension and fullness to your pout, making it look bigger.
#5. Give It A Little Twist
Ombre lips don’t have to be horizontal. They can be vertical too. What am I talking about? Easy. Apply the lighter colour to the center of your lips, and the darker ones to the corners. Blend them well. It’s an unusual but very flattering look, that won’t fail to attract attention.
