5 Amazing Podcasts Every Career Girl Should Listen To

Sometimes you don’t just want to plug in your headphones to listen to an awesome playlist, sometimes you want to hear awesome, entertaining people chatting about interesting things right in your brain box. Well, if you like to learn and laugh while you listen, these five podcasts are definitely for you!

#1 Make It Happen

Jenny Carrington, of Jennypurr.co.uk, has created an awesome website and blogging resource for creative entrepreneurs. As part of her mission to get us all online, she has also designed an awesome podcast where she talks with some of your favourite webby women about the things they do and working for themselves. This is my personal favourite podcast to wind down with while I make changes to my own website.

#2 Stuff Mom Never Told You

Stuff Mom Never Told You, from How Stuff Works, is a great podcast led by Cristen Conger and Caroline Ervin that looks at what it takes to be a woman from every imaginable angle. These two discuss topics you definitely wouldn’t with your mother, from sexuality to birth control, with countless research and witty, funny insights. It’s definitely one to listen to if you want the questions you’re too scared to ask answered!

#3 Slumber Party

Did you ever watch the video where two best friends created a disgusting but amazing drink they named “McNuggetini”? If not, you probably should, if only to be delightfully disgusted. Well, they’ve got their own wicked podcast, inviting you into their slumber party where they talk about everything in a way that only two best friends could. Tune in for giggles and real talk.

#4 Smart Creative Women

Smart Creative Women is run by Monica Lee, who aims to get her listeners connected with smart, creative, women and learn more about building a creative business from the ground up. She covers everything from getting paid to work to interviewing some of the biggest female creatives from around the web!

#5 Nerdette

You should listen to Nerdette if you want to know what the successful elite geek out to. Hosted by Greta Johnsen and Tricia Bobeda, Nerdette aims to break down awkward filler conversation by asking outright what these awesome people get nerdy about, so it’s like listening to a really intimate conversation that discusses everything us women are nerding over at the moment.

  • Bitel Van Dorn

I will definitely have to give these a listen. I would also add “The Independent” on byregina.com to the list! She has some great advice for people who are just starting out and want to start their creative business on the right foot. It’s also a fairly new podcast series – only 3 or 4 episodes in I think – so you can catch up and start all the way from the beginning. I’ve been listening to them all week and I’ve been loving her advice!

    • Beth

Ooh that sounds good! I’ll give it a listen! :) Thanks! x

  • Lyn @ Lazy Lady

Stuff Mom Never Told You is one of my all time favorites. I’d also recommend adding the Being Boss podcast to the list.

  • Carlota

Thank you for this post, been on the hunt of some podcasts for a while! They all sound good :)
