5 Things Every 20 Something Should Do To Keep Their Skin Young

After finding out this week that Scarlett Johansson’s beauty tip is to ‘leave your face alone’ (Cosmopolitan) I confess I’m feeling a little confused about the effects all this skin care will have on my skin in 20 years time.

I picked the brains of a facialist and makeup artist to find out exactly what we twenty-somethings should be doing to keep our baby faces forever.

Cleanse gently
“There are so many harsh cleansers out there, I’ve known girls to buy unbranded cleansers in order to save money, but it’s better to give your skin the best treatment. Your skin doesn’t need its natural oils stripping, so it’s always better to find a cleanser that works. Every cleanser works differently but really, try a super gentle cleanser like the totally cool clay cleanser from Bare Minerals that changes color as you massage it.”

Moisturize properly
“The one thing that will give your skin bounce in the years to come is a good moisturizer. Caudalie’s Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet is my current favorite.”

Hydrate while you apply
“My biggest tip would be to apply a few drops of Oskia Restoration Oil to your beauty blender when you apply your foundation. It’s a total game-changer because it means every time you apply your makeup, which is usually daily for most girls, you are hydrating and locking in moisture too.”

Always use sunscreen
“The sun will age you! I don’t know how many times I have to repeat that, but it’s true. I mean, a little sun here and there is good for you but you should use sunscreen on your face if you want to be ageless as you get older. This generation is much more aware of the effects of sun than the previous one, we’re less likely to go on a sunbed and I think that you all know how to take care of your skin quite well, but don’t take unnecessary risks in the sun if you want to stay young and healthy.”

Take supplements
“Another thing this generation is great for is the knowledge about health foods and a balanced diet. We always see people who love inventive and delicious food. Who can substitute spaghetti for courgette but twenty-somethings? I love it. Another thing they know about is the power of supplements. I recommend Perricone MD Superberry Supplements if you want to have radiant skin that lasts until you’re 80.”

Our recommendations..
Fresh Soy Cleanser
Fresh Soy Face Cleanser is an extra-gentle gel cleanser that instantly removes everyday impurities and makeup—even mascara—without stripping your skin of essential moisture. The multitasking formula works to tone, soothe, and soften the skin for a radiant, healthy-looking complexion. Amino acid-rich soy proteins help support natural elasticity and healthy skin.

Bare Minerals Clay Chameleon Cleanser
This cleanser is enriched with Papaya and Bamboo Extract and gently removes impurities and helps detoxify your skin.

Caudalie Vinosource Moisturising Sorbet
This moisturizer is perfect for anyone with sensitive and dehydrated skin. For any skin type which experiences daily, reactionary sensitivity or lack of moisture.

Oskia London Restoration
This face oil very light – not greasy at all! It sinks in quite quickly and leaves the skin nice and hydrated.

Perricone MD Superberry Supplements
Perfect for adding to water, smoothies or yoghurt, the delicious blend will help protect from free radical attacks whilst providing a much needed, caffeine-free, pick-me-up.

Bioderma Hydrabio Eau de Soin SPF 30
An absolute favorite here at CGD HQ! It’s a water based face mist infused with SPF 30.
This incredibly effective, invisble fine mist is easy to apply, portable and is great for outdoor activities such as jogging and tennis!

Awesome post! I have to moisturize daily or it is noticeable due to my dark skin. Plus my skin feels tight and dry without it.
