There is this thing about time management. Either you just know how to be on time and how to get up in the morning or you are more like me and it takes you ten minutes to open your eyes and another ten minutes to roll out of bed. Over the years I tried to train myself to be on time and found some great time management tricks. Here are five of them:
#1 Time yourself
If your weakness is sleeping in, you should time yourself.
Timing yourself in the morning is a great way to avoid being late. Time yourself on how long you usually take to get ready, then time yourself how long it takes you to get ready when you’re going your absolute fastest. That way you know how long you can actually sleep in.
#2 Have a specific spot for your things
Having a specific spot (for example a table next to your front door) where you always keep your keys, wallet and sunglasses will save you a lot of time if you’re running late. Train yourself and develop a routine, that way you won’t even notice that you put your things there but you always know where they are.
#3 Get started
I think the most important thing is just to get started with whatever needs to be done. Once you’ve started you will probably realize that it’s not as bad and time consuming as you first thought.
#4 Say No
In case you feel overloaded with work, you should know that it’s okay to say no. If you say yes to everything you will get super stressed out and end up running behind on all the other things that need to be done. I think it’s better to focus in a few things and get them done in time than trying to do everything at the same time.
#5 Write it down
I know, that tip sounds boring but keeping a list of things you need to do and the date when they need to be done will make everything easier. And just imagine the great feeling when you can finally cross off the things that you completed.
