Is it just me that goes out drinking knowing I have something to do the next day? Whether it’s a family get-together or something more important, if everyone else is having fun – I’m likely to join in…mostly because ‘YOLO’.

But the next day, once I’ve devoured a whole pizza and popped some pills, there’s one thing giving away how awful I feel…my hangover face! Luckily, you can hide the fact that you had a big night out with these tried and tested tips for looking as though you woke up fresh as a daisy!

1. Hydrate

When you first wake up you will probably be very dehydrated. That’s the downside to drinking lots of alcohol, so you need to replenish your body quickly. Drink one large glass of water before you get out of bed and treat your skin to some hydration too.

I use Nirvana Hydrating Treatment Mist after cleansing my face because it makes me feel so refreshed, there’s nothing better than having cold mist spritzed on your hangover face – trust me. Follow it up with Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream so your skin is hydrated and gets some color back!

2. Deal with those eyes

Once you wake up the next day your eyes will be the windows into how much fun you had last night. Most likely they’ll be red, bloodshot and puffy. Not to mention those bags you’ll get underneath, now those most certainly aren’t Chanel. Read our guide to banishing those eye bags in 30 minutes if you’re really struggling to get rid of them.

Luckily there are a couple of ways to wipe away the evidence of your big night out. Start with Elemis Pro-Collagen Hydra-Gel Masks for those pesky dark circles, and if your eyes are really sore, steep some green tea bags in hot water, put them in the fridge and then apply them to your eyes. I usually go for green tea if my eyes are really sore and red, leave them on for 15 minutes and then feel refreshed!

3. Color correct

If your skin looks like an abstract work of art showcasing colors from red to sickly green you need to get color correcting fast! Greens eliminate red while red combats purple. The Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Neutralizers are perfect for all your color correcting needs, so conceal those colors and then blend your foundation as normal with a sponge.

4. Get a glow

Highlighter is your savior when you have a hangover! It will make you look instantly refreshed and glowing, nobody would be able to guess that you feel like curling up into a ball and sleeping forever. Use Benefit’s Watts Up to give softly blended highlights on your cheekbones, nose and cupids bow. You can also use it in the inner corner of your eyes slightly to make them appear more awake and open.

5. Use the right tools

To be honest, most people will notice your hangover by looking at your eyes. Even if you have depuffed and debagged them, they are probably going to give you away. To avoid that, you need to have an army of tools that will guarantee that if anyone wants to stare into your eyes they’ll have no idea that you feel like crap.

You’ll need a white or nude eyeliner pencil for your waterline, try Lancôme Drama Liqui-Penicl in French Lace, this will immediately open up your eyes and make them seem less red and tired. Follow up with a good pair of eyelash curlers and a trusted mascara like Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara and your eyes will no longer give you away!
