”Do what you love and you never work a day in your life” is probably one of the best career-related quotes. It is a dream for many, a reality for few, to make money by doing the things that you love and are good at. In the CGD office, we believe that everything is possible as long as you are willing to get off your butt, go out and get it. So here is to everyone that would like to make a living doing what you love! We give you 5 ways to make that dream happen.
#1 MAKE TIME TO MAKE IT HAPPEN:
It is very simple: If you don’t make time to invest in your passion, you will never be able to make a living out of it. Schedule certain hours each week or day to work on your passion, write your plan and goals down and work with it. Make it visual for yourself what needs to be done and researched in order to make your passion, your job.
#2 FIGURE OUT HOW YOU CAN MAKE MONEY FROM YOUR PASSION:
Doing what you love is one thing, but you also need to figure out how you can make money from it. How can you shape it in a way that it benefits you financially as well? It might be more simple with some passions than others, but nothing is impossible! Be creative and research your field.
# 3 TALK TO PEOPLE WHO HAVE DONE IT:
There is no better way to find motivation and inspiration than by talking to people who already been there and done it. They already now the struggles and obstacles you might experience, so why not get advice from the experts in your field. It might give you new insights and help you to form your plan and business model.
#4 BE FEARLESS:
Always be fearless! There are some decisions you might need to make when changing your career. You might need to give up your safe and secure full-time job or make a major career change, it is all part of the journey. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes, experience is the best teacher in the end and whenever you make a mistake, just keep going!
#5 BE PATIENT:
It might take time, so always be patient. I know first hand how difficult this part can be. It might take 1, 2 or 3 years before you can quit your day job or before you are ready to launch your business, but be patient, keep going and make your goals visual so that you always know what you are working towards.
