5 Ways To Fall In Love With Your Job All Over Again

Remember your first day at your current job? How excited you were, how much you loved going and the adrenaline you had for finally landing yourself the job of your dreams. That first stage, the honeymoon stage, where you were still new to your job, trying to find your own working routine and to grasp an understanding of your role and being filled with excitement for your new experience.

For some people, once this stage is over and you get used to your routine, you know the challenges of the company and all the excitement is gone, going to work becomes a chore and getting up in the morning to go to work is starting to wear you down.

If that is you, follow these 5 ways to and fall in love all over again with the job that you once loved so much.

#1 – Make a list of why you fell in love with the job in the first place

Remind yourself what it was that made you apply for this job, what did you like about it and what are the elements you were excited about. This will help you to find your motivation and inspiration back and redirect your focus to the things that were important to you. In case you forgot what made you fall in love with your job in the first place, try to find out what inspires you in your work, what is the satisfaction you get from it and use this to create new goals and get back on track.

#2 – Positivity is key

Approach every day with a positive attitude. Job satisfaction starts with you and the way you approach it. A positive attitude will make your more productive, will bring back the ‘fun’ in your work and gives you the ability to enjoy your work again.

#3 – Balance work and life

You work to live, you don’t live to work, so make sure you balance your work and personal life. Make sure you plan fun things that you can look forward to during your week and make time for the things and ones you love. Finding a good balance is key to a happy career.

#4 – Ask for what you want

Don’t wait for you exit interview to say everything that you didn’t like and what you would have liked to change. Your boss can’t read minds, so if you think a certain improvement or change would make your work more pleasurable, tell them. If you have an amazing project in mind or would like to have more responsibility, the only way to make that happen is to discuss it with relevant members of staff. So don’t sit around waiting for the opportunity, go and get it!

#5 – Change what you can control

You can control your own attitude, you can control you work environment and you can control certain ‘pain-points’ in your work routine. So if your desk bothers you, spice it up! If a colleague is being annoying, don’t let it get to you! There are always things you can’t control, but the things you can change that will make your work more likable, control them and change it!
