6 Things You Need To Give Up If You Want To Be Successful

Success, for most of us, is our end goal. And being the Career Girls we are, it is something we work towards daily. Sometimes there are things you need to give up to be successful. No, we’re not talking about things you love and enjoy. We don’t believe in negativity on the path to success – we’re talking about those harmful habits that it’s time to say goodbye to!

Here are a few things that might be holding you back…

1. Likability

Trying to be liked by everyone feels great, but it’s just not realistic. Remember, for every person who likes you, there are plenty who do not. If you want to be successful, and stay successful, you need to let go of the thought of having everyone like you. Because not only is that false, it is impossible. You can’t please everybody and you’ll have to learn that it’s not a reflection on you. So be a boss and don’t let it phase you because the successful woman doesn’t care if she’s liked, she wants to be respected.

2. Excuses

Everyone has them, and granted we all use them (some more often than not). But if you want to make it into the realm of success, you’re going to have to let excuses go. Because the true Career Girl doesn’t make any excuses for herself; she doesn’t need to. Excuses hold you back from growing, striving and challenging yourself in the field you wish to develop in. Not to mention, having an excuse-after-excuse can make you look unprofessional rather than reliable. Let go of the unnecessary excuses and push yourself towards the success you deserve.

3. Perfection

Understand that mistakes are inevitable and nothing will be perfect. It’s okay to picture the kind of success we want, but to equate it to perfection will tarnish your growth towards success. Enjoy the journey, learn from your mistakes and let go of the need for perfection. It’s great that you want to be the best version of yourself and do the best work, but the successful woman knows sh*t happens and knows how to react to it.

4. Toxic People

It’s true when they say your five closest friends speak to your character. And to take it a step further, you can say it speaks to your success. Toxic people are draining and can even place a blockage on your way to becoming successful. It is unhealthy to be constantly surrounded by those who have nothing positive to say and keep you away from your goals rather than encouraging you towards them!

5. Living unhealthy

If you want to be truly successful it begins with you. It is important that you are taking care of yourself, eating right and exercising regularly. Staying fit and hydrated is beneficial for your focus and dedication. So it’s important to understand that success will come and stay as long as you are taking care of yourself first.

6. Multitasking

Multitasking may have worked in the past towards miscellaneous tasks. But, it’s not something you want to consider if you want to be successful. Successful people know this will only lead to disaster. The problem with multitasking is having to thin yourself out to a million different tasks. It clouds your focus and delays productivity. Dedicate the right amount of time towards one goal or task, and in due time you will be successful.
