7 Activities Super Successful People Do During The Weekend

I have always asked myself, what will people like Oprah, Angela Merkel and other Power Women who are, so called, super successful, do during their weekends? I always assumed that they are working 24/7, almost never have family time and don’t even know what a ‘day of rest’ means.

Laura Vanderkam, author of ”What the Most Successful People Do on the Weekend” explains: “You need to hit Monday ready to go. To do that, you need weekends that rejuvenate you, rather than exhaust or disappoint you. Cross-training makes you a better athlete, and likewise, exercise, volunteer work, spiritual activities, and hands-on parenting make you a better worker than if you just worked all the time.”

The weekend is the secret weapon in professional success and most successful people know that. Just like during the week, they create the life they want during the weekends and use it to recharge for the following week.

So whatever you had planned for this upcoming weekend, you might need to change your plans. Here are 7 activities super successful people do during the weekends (or should be doing), which are actually pretty normal.

#1 – Spend time with their loved one

Most successful people try to spend as much time as possible with their family and friends during the weekend, especially when there is not any time for it during the week. It is important to keep these relationships going, so no matter how busy you are, always make time to see your loved ones.

#2 -Exercise

What a lot of successful people have in common is their commitment to exercising. Whether it is going to the gym, tennis or football with old friends, there is always an active hobby in their life. Exercising can help you deal with stress, improves your memory and gives you more energy, some of the ingredients you need for a successful professional life.

#3 – Weekend break

Going on a relaxing holiday by themselves, with family or friends. Change the environment and recharge in order to mentally prepare yourself for the upcoming working week.

#4 – Volunteer

In other words, giving back to society. Volunteering is a good way to connect with people you wouldn’t normally connect with, gives you a feeling of someone else’s world, teaches you a lot and stimulates your social side. So even though volunteering seems like a lot of giving, you get more out of it than you can imagine.

#5 – Disconnect

No Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or anything else that has to do with the ‘outside’ world. Disconnecting yourself gives you a feeling of rest, peace and absolutely no stress (if you can handle to be without your (work) phone at least). Spend time with a loved one without being connected to the online world and checking your phone all the time. The rest and feeling it gives you is amazing and I bet you will keep doing it every weekend ones you experienced the feeling.

#6 – Recharge

If you have a really busy job, you need to find time to recharge in order to keep going. So recharging is a very important aspect for successful people. Like Laura said ‘You need to hit that Monday’ so there is no point in exhausting yourself on the weekends if you have a busy week ahead.

#7 – Reflect

Reflecting on their past week or even life, and how they can improve their behaviour in order to improve their career. Reflecting is always really important, whether it is reflecting on your success in life or your behaviour during certain events, in order to be the best that you can possibly be, reflection

You’re rude. Learn to love yourself, and maybe you will realize that others need to be loved and encouraged as well.

I would never imagine that successful people would have anytime to rejuvenate! It’s ridiculous what one day of rest and relaxation can do to the mind and body.

I think the one that I am missing is “disconnect”. I’m always so amped up and never relax because I am way too overstimulated by so many things. Also should try to get in a yoga class or a walk on the weekends too. Great post.

Thanks for posting. These are great tips. It is amazing how just a small amount of time “disconnecting” from our busy lives (cell phone, social media, etc) and reconnecting with focused time on ourselves and things we enjoy can rejuvenate us. It doesn’t take much but we need to take that conscious ACTION! Here’s to enjoying the weekend! Thanks!
