The evenings are getting lighter, the sunshine is beginning to make an appearance and the daffodils are blooming – this can only mean one thing, summer is on its way! There’s nothing more exciting than booking your summer holiday, but with so many options its difficult to choose. So, we’ve done the work for you and picked out the best vacation destinations to wake up in this summer.
Whether you’re going opting for a long-haul destination or looking for the perfect city trip, your dream holiday is just around the corner… all you have to do now is book a flight:
Vietnam
If you’re looking for an adventure fuelled holiday, Vietnam is definitely for you. From the busy streets of Ho Chi Minh City to a sky full of lanterns in Hoi An, this incredible destination should definitely be ticked off your bucket list. One tip I would give you is when crossing the road do NOT hesitate just walk. You’ll know what I’m talking about when you arrive!
Where to stay: The Pullman hotel in Ho Chi Minh is right in the heart of this buzzing city. With a lavish breakfast, beautiful interior and stunning views, it’s the perfect place to wind down and relax after an adventure-packed day. Find out more here.
What to do: When traveling from Hoi An to Hue, the Hai Van Pass is a must-do. This once in lifetime trip takes you up to the mountains, and into the clouds on the back of a motor-bike! If you’re afraid of heights then I’d skip this one. I highly recommend using Le Family Riders. For the best, fake designer bags you’ll ever see head down to Ben Thanh Market in Ho Chi Minh to grab your Gucci bargain.
Tel Aviv, Israel
‘The city that never sleeps’ Tel Aviv is one of the most vibrant cities in the world. This 24-hour city boasts white sandy beaches, world-class nightlife, Michelin star restaurants, and a buzzing cultural scene.
Along the promenade, you’ll find a load of cyclists, joggers and dog walkers taking a stroll, while sunbathers and surfers take over the beach… when can we book?
Where to stay: Stay at the Royal Beach in Tel Aviv. This modern, luxurious hotel, is the perfect place to relax and soak up the sun on its rooftop pool. Perfectly located in the heart of the city, this hotel allows guests to enjoy the most popular sites. Find out more here.
What to do: Visit Carmel market which is one of the largest open markets in Israel. Be sure to visit Neve Tzedek neighborhood and Tel Aviv port. For food, try out The Social Club and Hakosem for the best falafel you’ll ever taste!
Barcelona, Spain
Barcelona is personally one of my favorite city breaks. Take a stroll on the busiest street, Las Ramblas and enjoy the city’s lively lifestyle and quirky boutiques around every corner. Whilst exploring, you’ll find Europes best-preserved Gothic Quarter as well as breath-taking architectural works by Gaudi. Enjoy La Boqueria market, and grab a refreshing smoothie to cool down after a busy day of site-seeing.
Where to stay: If you’re looking for a holiday filled with luxury, look no further than The W hotel. This stunning hotel has a large infinity pool and rooms overlooking Barcelona’s famous beach. Enjoy a short walk along the promenade to the center, where you will find hundreds of restaurants and shops to keep you busy! Find out more here.
What to do: Put your guidebooks away and fold up your ginormous maps, and explore this exciting city in the world’s first GPS-guided tour car. Yes, it may look like Mr. Bean’s car but trust me, it will take you on a one-of-a-kind adventure through the streets of Barcelona and it’s most popular sites. Instead of sitting on a site-seeing bus, or struggling to hear your tour guide, this clever vehicle talks you through the rich histories around every corner. Find out more here.
Gran Canaria, Spain
If you’re not into the whole site-seeing business and just want a relaxing, sunbathing holiday then look no further than Gran Canaria. How does sitting by a pool in the scorching sun with a cocktail in one hand and a good book in the other? Sorry to make you depressed at work.
Where to stay: Stay at the Villa del Conde Resort. This hotel is in a great location, on the Seafront and an easy walking distance to shops and restaurants. Not forgetting the amazing breakfast buffet and two huge pools! Find out more.
What to do: Admire the species of dolphins and whales that live in the Canaries on a 2-hour boat trip. Visit Maspalomas, the second longest beach in Gran Canaria which is famous for its incredible sand dunes – if you can, try to climb up them to see the amazing views.
Berlin, Germany
Summer is by far the best season to visit Berlin. Famous for its buzzing atmosphere and let’s not forget the festivals, that can go on for days rather than hours. From five-star luxury hotels, must-see attractions and Michelin-starred dining spots, it’s no wonder why people return to Berlin again and again.
Where to stay: The Hilton Hotel Berlin, is in the city center, on Berlin’s most beautiful historic square. The streets around offer some seriously high-end shopping from the likes of Galerie Lafayette and Gucci, as well as some of the city’s finest restaurants. There are also plenty of transport stops nearby to explore the wider city. Find out more here.
What to do: From cool galleries, historic attractions and nightlife venues, there’s no end of things to do in Berlin. Make sure to visit, The Berlin Wall, Checkpoint Charlie, The Holocaust Memorial, and The Reichstag building.
London, U.K
Ok, I may be a little biased because I live here but, London in the summer is a great place to be as there is so much to do! There’s nothing better than sunbathing in Hyde Park whilst a concert plays in the background, or walking along the Southbank in the sunshine. In the months of June, July, and August, London really does transform into a whole new city and we absolutely love it!
Where to stay: The Ace Hotel in Shoreditch. This hotel is situated in the heart of London’s quirkiest, vibrant and most diverse areas. Here you will find the best bagels in town, tonnes of vintage boutiques and a short walk from London’s biggest flower market. Find out more here.
What to do: London is known to be the tourist capital of the world, and for good reason. Whether you want to say hello to the Queen at Buckingham Palace or take a trip down the River Thames, London has so much to offer and is perfect if you’re looking to explore this summer.
Los Angeles, America
Home to the rich and famous, Los Angeles is one which needs to be ticked off our bucket list. If you’re looking to splash your cash on Rodeo Drive or get active with the locals on Venice Beach there’s more than enough here to keep you busy. Take a trip down to Hollywood and see the iconic sign and make sure you keep your eyes peeled for celebrities!
Where to stay: InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown is situated in L.A’s busiest areas, just steps away from trendy restaurants, shops, and bars. There are incredible sweeping views of LA, from the famed Hollywood sign to the beaches of Santa Monica. Find out more here.
What to do: If you’re a shopaholic make sure you explore Rodeo Drive for the best shops in L.A but, try and save a little money for the rest of the holiday. Take a walk along Venice beach and meet the friendly locals.
