Although there are a zillion benefits to autumn and winter, log fires, mince pies, orange scented candles and an excuse to buy new boots…I could go on, the cold weather will have an adverse impact on your skin, leaving it dry and sensitive.
Gone are the days of lightly dusting your cheeks with a peach blusher, applying a few strokes of mascara and slapping on some coral lippy; autumn has arrived, with winter following closely behind. As your skin prepares to adapt to the harsher weather, so too should the contents of your makeup bag. So we’ve selected the 8 best products to aid your makeup bag transition.
Nivea Q10 Plus Anti-Wrinkle Night Cream
Using a thicker moisturiser during winter is an absolute necessity, and what better time to use it than at night? At night, your skin is most receptive to moisture intake, meaning your skin will reap the hydration benefits plus using it at night won’t affect your makeup application. This oil-free product from Nivea is designed to provide your with skin the hydration it needs, regenerate skin and reduce the appearance of wrinkles. With 15 years experience in the anti-wrinkle industry it’s no wonder Nivea are the go-to brand for skincare. Apply to clean skin each night to wake up with refreshed, oil-free, super soft skin.
This Works In Transit Camera Close-Up
Whilst dealing with rain, wind and ice-cold temperatures, your makeup’s durability is put to the test. For this reason, a primer is an absolute staple throughout the winter months. Using a good primer will keep your make up looking perfect for longer no matter what the weather. In Transit Camera Close-Up works as both a moisturiser and a primer in one, providing you with both hydration and staying power –what a dream!
Dior Addict Lip Glow
Winter is the season of the dry lips, so stay one step ahead and use a lip product with moisturising content. Although a basic lip balm is perfect for night time, carrying around a tub of Vaseline isn’t the chicest method of hydrating your lips. Opt for a more sophisticated lip product like the Dior Addict Lip Glow. Using colour reviver technology, this product works with each individual woman’s lips to create the perfect shade of pink to suit your skin tone.
NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer
One thing we don’t have summer to thank for is dark spots, which look all the more prominent as your tan fades. So for the ultimate cover up, use NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer which prides itself on being both long-lasting and crease-proof. Available in ten different shades, this product is an absolute A/W15 makeup bag staple.
Benefit High Beam
Not ready to let go of your summer glow? Take the strobing trend into winter with High Beam from Benefit. This subtle highlighter should be dabbed onto cheeks and brow bones to achieve a subtle winter glow. Its creamy consistency makes it easy to blend, and the generous sized pot means it’s well worth the price. If you need help with strobing tips take a look at our Strobing How-To.

Wind, rain and cold weather can all put strain on your hair. Put the hydration back into your hair by using Bumble and Bumble’s Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil. Whether your hair suffers with frizz, flyaways or tangles, Bumble and Bumble have provided the solution. I have the guerlain bronzer and absolutely love it. It’s perfect all year around for adding some natural colour. It’s also so true about the moisturising ingredients. Some bronzers can look almost clumpy on my skin, but this one goes on so smoothly and gives such a nice result.
Love this post! Thanks Lucy x
