Mentally strong people can deal with anything. From a change of plans to making doctors appointments. We’re an anxious generation, being mentally strong takes training. Just as you’d work out your body, you need to work out your mind.
So before 8am, get up, and exercise your mind!
1. Wake up a little bit earlier
Start the day by getting rid of all the negativity. Ok, your boss didn’t like what you did yesterday, someone upset you, things went wrong. That was yesterday. How are you going to be better? Start by telling yourself one thing you want to achieve and set yourself up to achieve it.
2. Get your ducks in a row
We all have about a thousand different goals, varying from career to lifestyle. And when you first start the day, you’ve got all your to-dos piling up. This can make you lose focus and confidence. If your mind is elsewhere you won’t be able to tackle everything with strength. So, use your mental energy wisely. Before you even get out of bed tell yourself what you won’t waste energy on. Worrying, arguing, and overthinking aren’t worth it!
3. Share your thoughts with someone who cares
Spend a small part of your morning chatting to someone who makes you really happy. I speak to my mom every morning on my way to work, it gives me an extra sprinkle of inspiration and improves my confidence. It brings everything back to down earth. Your best friend, sister, or confident member of your family can help you become mentally strong by sharing their own wisdom.
4. Stay positive
It’s difficult but you need to eliminate negative thoughts. Stop worrying about what you can’t control, if you see a negative outcome in every action, turn it around. What has the experience taught you? What have you learned? Where’s the silver lining? Start with small mishaps, and when something big and unexpected happens, you’ll be prepared.
5. Give yourself 10 minutes of worry time
Are you an anxious person? Give yourself ten minutes of worry time to hash those things out. Write your fears down, acknowledge them and then let them go. You can revisit them in the evening if you need to.
6. Give yourself 5 compliments
While you apply your makeup and get ready for work, tell yourself five nice things about yourself. At first, it’ll seem strange, but after a while, it becomes a habit. You notice when you’re walking out the door that you have a bit more confidence in your stride, you ignore those unflattering angles when you see them and the horrible lighting in the bathroom because you gave yourself a huge boost in the morning. You know you’re a queen.
7. Read something uplifting
Every day read something/learn something new. Positive news and new skills bring mental strength because they boost your mood and your feelings about your own accomplishments.
8. Be kind and do something nice
Find nice things to do for other people. Volunteer, do one nice thing for the world or the people around you, and you’ll instantly feel better. You don’t have to start it right now, all you have to do is find something productive and kind to do when you have time to. It’ll boost your mood and give you a strong mind!
