8 Things That Go Through Your Mind When You’re Addicted To Your Phone

They come with us everywhere we go and rarely ever leave our side, some of you may sleep next to them, some may even bathe with them and I have been known to even take mine with me to the bathroom. I am of course talking about the mobile phone, the device that has most probably taken over your life. Here are 8 real thoughts all us smart phone addicts have.

#1 Life without my phone is a life not worth living.

Your phone is glued to your hand 24/7, from the moment you wake up in the morning to the moment you accidentally drop it on your face whilst drifting off to sleep. As far as leaving your phone at home is concerned, who does that? What if you get an important Facebook notification or you miss the most important phone call of your life, you are a career girl after all.

#2 I must capture everything.

Why live in the moment when you can capture that moment and re-live it for the rest of your life. It’s just too hard to resist the temptation to pick up your phone and photograph everything in sight, from the adorable dog you saw in the park to the time you saw your favourite band playing live.

#3 I can justify everything.

You may photograph every little thing you eat but then why wouldn’t you when the filters make it look so damn good? You may update your status once every half an hour but why wouldn’t everyone want to know of your whereabouts? You also may have to take a selfie every 30 seconds but surely if you look that good it would almost be rude not to?

#4 Am I in denial?

The first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem; you probably won’t be the first person to admit that you are, in fact, addicted to your phone because your far too busy trying to beat your high score on Angry Birds to have even noticed. However there’s no doubt your flat mate has noticed and your mum is now considering booking you in for therapy.

#5 Am I too reliant on my phone?

Need directions? Just ask Siri. Need to know who sings that ridiculously catchy song they keep playing at work? Shazam it. Need to check your bank balance? No problem. It seems nowadays almost everything and anything we need is just a mere two thumb taps away and you can’t help but secretly love it.

#6 Why is no one texting me?

So you’ve left your phone on charge face down and on silent for the past 2 hours, you expect to come back to 20 messages, 5 Facebook notifications and at least 2 missed calls. Instead you come back to an empty screen and a broken heart.

#7 I think I’ve forgotten how to socialise.

Who has time to go out and actually meet up with people? Not a phone addict, that’s for sure. If you feel like the world has ended when you run out of minutes then you may in fact have a problem.

#8 Why is my battery always so low?

I may be wrong here but I’m going to hazard a guess and say maybe, just maybe, it’s because you’re always on your phone.

Step away from the device and save yourself while you still can.
