I think we can all agree 2020 has taken a toll on our physical, mental, and emotional health. If you’re in need of some serious self-care, hang up the “Do Not Disturb” sign and use these tips to get healthy, glowing skin.
Get the glow from the inside out
Next time you’re wandering the grocery store –mask on, of course– look for foods high in Vitamins A, B, and C for repair, hydration, and skin elasticity. Also, Vitamins E and K are known to reduce scarring and dark circles.
Drink more green tea
Packed with antioxidants that fight inflammation, Green Tea does wonders for your skin. For an added boost, I like to squeeze in some lemon and a dash of turmeric.
(Warning: Turmeric will stain if it comes into contact with clothes/carpet/etc…this is not the type of tea you want to be “spilling”, sis.)
Eat more avocado
Avocado has lots of Vitamin C and those “good fats” we keep hearing about. Top it off with some smoked salmon for a wrinkle-fighting, anti-inflammatory, facial-toning bonus!
Get the glow from the inside out
Blend up frozen blueberries, a scoop of almond butter, and a bit of cacao powder for a smoothie your skin (and taste buds) will love. Antioxidants in the cacao powder help with blood circulation. Almonds have tons of Vitamin E. And Blueberries? From antioxidants to prebiotics, they are a glowing skin essential.
It’s all about the skincare routine
Believe me, I know we have all had our fair share of skincare products we couldn’t get enough of…and some we couldn’t get rid of fast enough. That’s why I’m recommending products from brands I trust and have continually used. Of course, it’s always important to read the ingredients and reviews before buying a concoction you apply directly to your face.
It’s all about the skincare routine
Rodial’s Soft Focus Glow Booster Drops have been my go-to for a while now. It can be used as a make-up primer, but I also love it all on its own. Glossier and Rosen Skincare are two of my all-time favorite brands. The Future Dew and Bright Citrus Serum both nourish and brighten your skin.
Face Rollers have become extremely popular in the last year. They come in a variety of stones, each with different claims. I went simple and picked up a Rose Quartz Roller from Amazon. The gentle face massage increases blood circulation and clears away toxins in your face. I have definitely seen reduced puffiness and brighter skin!
Micellar Water is another product I’m sure you’ve heard about and seen popping up more and more on shelves. I always wondered, “how is it different from regular water?” Normal tap water can be harsh on your skin, while Micellar Water is designed to hydrate and nourish your skin while cleaning it. Bioderma’s “Make-up Removing Micelle Solution” was the first of its kind and loved by many!
Remember to take care of yourself
Reminder: All the blueberries, [highlighter], and face serums can’t make you “glow” if you’re not taking care of yourself. Lots of water, plenty of sleep, and checking in with your mental health are the foundation for radiant skin.
