Organized Career Girls have their shit together! And I’ve bet you’ve already got a list of your goals to smash. But, is there anything you can do to be better?
But as always, we’re looking to challenge and push you. So, we’ve decided to add a few more things to the list you might have missed.
Because in order to be the best version of yourself and to be as productive as possible, you need to do the following things:
1. Fill up your days
Choose a day, we recommend Sundays and spend 30 minutes or so scheduling out all of your appointments and things you need to get done.
Take successful women for example like Cameron Diaz, she always plans ahead on a Sunday to make sure her week stays healthy and organized.
So, make sure always to fill in your calendar ahead of time to make yourself aware of deadlines, targets, and appointments at all times. This will also help you plan around them to get some social things in too!
2. Create the ultimate work wardrobe
The one thing we all want is to make sure we look great from nine to five, five days a week! And it’s completely possible!
We’ve even read some inspiring wardrobe stories from successful Career Girls, like art director Matilda Kahl who deliberately wears the same thing to work every day.
All you have to do is keep things simple, buy your basics and you can create an amazing outfit from them.
Not only will it save you time and energy but you can establish your own personal brand and signature look.
But this also means getting your closet organized and having a big clear out of all the stuff you never, ever wear!
And if you are to do this, consider donating your gently used professional clothing to an organization like Dress For Success that works to empower women to achieve economic independence.
3. Establish a morning routine
Let’s face it, mornings can be tough, even for the self-proclaimed morning people.
But it’s essential you construct a morning routine that’s perfect for you. Many successful women spend their mornings getting in a workout before work, but if you’re like me and prefer to work out in the evening then that’s completely fine too.
You need to find what works for you. Because if it doesn’t you won’t be making a routine that works or is beneficial.
Creating a morning routine will keep you on track and your priorities in line. And there are apps to help with this, check out our favs here.
5. Be more connected
Every now and again, it’s great to pick up the phone and actually speak to someone. Struggle fitting it in, or finding the right time? There is no right time. Just learn to pick up the phone more and stay connected.
Think extremes. When you are overwhelmingly happy, call to share the great news.
An email can never convey the joy in your voice on your best day ever. The same goes for when you are terribly upset. Your friends and family are the only ones who can share your feelings, too, so make sure you stay in touch!
6. Say no more
It’s OK to put yourself first. Politely decline that thing you don’t want to do and likely don’t have the time for.
It’s completely OK to say no, and sometimes it’s vital. You can’t do everything, even if you like to think you can.
Remember to prioritize your tasks first, help where you can and get things done.
It’s not sustainable for you to be everything to everyone! Everyone needs time to themselves sometimes.
7. Learn something new always
Sure, you learn new things at work everyday. But what about that thing you’ve always wanted to know how to do?
Perhaps you want to play the guitar? Or learn to code? Or even further your skills for your career?
Challenge yourself always, learn something new every day! It will keep you on top form and will allow you to stay motivated and inspired!
8. Meditate often
Studies continue to show the incredible benefits of meditation, from reducing anxiety, and stress to actually changing the brain.
Try taking a few minutes every day and sit in silence. Acknowledge all those wandering thoughts swirling in your head and let them go without reacting to them.
You know how sometimes you need to turn your phone off and back on to get it to work properly? Apply that principle to your mind.
What’s on your list of goals to accomplish right now?
