18 Little Stress-Relievers For A Happier Life

Sometimes, getting stressed out is unavoidable – it happens and it’s perfectly normal.

We’re Career Girls after all, which means that we work high-powered jobs that demand a lot of attention.

But, if there’s one thing we all wish we could do is to beat the stress quickly when it arrives.

Rather than getting more stressed about being stressed! But, don’t worry – that’s all about to change!

I can feel the stress sometimes, it comes when I’m excited or working too hard. But I’ve created a bullet-proof routine that helps me to feel calm and happy no matter what I’m doing.

1. Have a big squeeze:

Sometimes a quick cuddle from your bestie, boyfriend or even your mum can do you a world of good.

It can actually take away half of your stress and make you feel much better than you did before.

So, all you have to do is squeeze away the stress.

2. Take the perfect bath:

Make sure to add essential oils to your bath that will really help you unwind and relax.

A hot bath will already do you a world of good, but by adding these extras, especially ones that really help stress anyway will really help you take that time for you.

3. Go for a walk:

Just getting out into nature and taking a casual walk by yourself or with a loved one can do your the world of good.

Getting out into the fresh helps to ease your mind and when you’ve returned from your walk you’ll be feeling fresher than ever.

4. Or, just workout:

The better alternative to a walk which can be more effective is doing a high-powered workout.

If you’ve got a lot of stress I always find classes like boxing, which really work your whole body is really good for getting it all out.

5. Find your inner peace:

Meditation is also a really good way to unwind.

Millions of people do it around the world and swear by it. But if you’re a beginner don’t worry! You don’t even have to cross your legs and hold your hands in the air.

I just listen to a meditative podcast on my commute to center my breathing to really calm me down.

6. Create a plan:

The best way I can think of to avoid stress is to always plan for it.

As stress is quite unavoidable it’s important to plan your days, which can help you to stay clear of stress altogether!

I use my Getting Things Done Planner to keep my life running smoothly when I’m super busy.

7. Aromatherapy all day, every day:

The one thing I really loved to do when I’m feeling stressed out is to use an oil or a candle that’s infused with all the great ingredients and herbs that are meant to calm and relax me.

There’s no better feeling than getting into bed with this and feeling the stress melt away!

8. Try some Valerian Root:

If your stress is extreme and is making you feel very anxious then try some Valerian Root, it’s completely natural and will take the edge off for a little while, which will help you keep that budding anxiety at bay!

9. Or, try a calming tea:

But if you don’t like to take anything like the above a calming tea like a camomile tea will do just the trick too.

I believe a cup of tea can cure anything, so just make yourself a brew when things are feeling a little heavy for an instant mood burst!

Because a cup of tea makes everything better!

10. Include these herbs in your life:

Ylang-Ylang and Jasmine are really great for relaxation and anxiety, which means they are an essential you need in your routine, especially if you get stressed out a lot.

You can find these ingredients anywhere from beauty products to oils.

11. Yoga for the win:

Everyone knows that Yoga is really good for finding your center and relaxing.

So, if meditation isn’t really your thing then do Yoga instead.

You’ll be doing your body good and keeping it healthy as well as your mind!

12. Listen to calming sounds:

I’ve found that recently listening to calming sounds has made me feel a lot more relaxed.

For example, there’s an app called Rain Rain and it has every sound you could ever imagine.

I love to listen to the sound of waves, so that’s what I use to float away!

13. Talk it out:

There’s nothing better than sitting with a group of women who just get you – I grow so much from those conversations.

So, sitting with a friend and just offloading always helps me to get everything off my chest!

I always feel so good afterward – plus it doesn’t make you feel like you’re alone either!

14. Or, you could just delegate:

When things may get a little OTT rather than just stressing about everything and letting yourself get all worked up just try and delegating some of your tasks.

Everyone works in teams, so it might be easier to just ask for help.

That’s what they are there for; to help you out!

15. Go for a dip:

I’m really into my swimming, and I don’t know about you, but whenever I go for a swim I feel so utterly relaxed afterward.

You don’t even have to turn it into a massive workout, as long as you go for a little swim you will really feel the difference!

16. Treat and pamper yourself:

I don’t know about you, but when I’m pampering and looking after myself with a face mask, a takeaway and even doing my nails I always feel so much better.

On a Friday night with the girls, or on a Sunday night with some Frank Body, I always treat myself to give me that boost I need.

17. Work smarter, not harder:

If you work is proving too much and your to-do lists seem never-ending then you have to ask yourself are you working smart?

Are you spending too long on one thing? Instead, come up with strategies to make you more productive so you’ll be the master of your to-dos.

18. Accept what you can’t change:

Don’t stress yourself out too much over things that are out of your control.

Sit down with yourself and justify how you feel, remember that nothing is the end of the world and you can handle anything that’s thrown at you.

But if you can’t change it, don’t fret about it!

  6. Careful with Valerian Root because it can knock you out for the day. It is used as a sleep aid for those with sleep issues. If you want to take it, don’t take it during the day for the first time. Also it smells like dirty feet so be aware of that. But it works like a charm for me when i can’t sleep!
