For me, beauty is something magical. I am half Colombian and in this country beauty is a big thing. Women are known for their beauty rituals and growing up you will learn the many tips and tricks.
Ever since I was sixteen, I’ve taken great care of my skin. I always cleansed my face before going to bed and made sure to use a moisturizer every day. Because of my long-term skincare routine, I’ve got quite a few compliments on my skin.
I’m in my late twenties now, and beauty is still a huge passion of mine. I absolutely love taking care of my skin. For me, it’s the start of something new. Whether it’s a new day or getting ready to go to bed.
MY HOLY GRAIL
In all these years, I’ve learned one very important thing. Great skin starts from within. So I try to eat as healthy as possible by keeping processed foods to a minimum. I eat a lot of vegetables and protein and have cut down on sugar as much as possible. Try these vegetarian recipes for every day of the week to change your diet now. Stress, and an unhealthy diet shows on your skin. No matter how much makeup you put on, it just won’t sit right.
I also workout at least five times a week, doing a combination of HIIT, boxing, Barry’s Bootcamp and Barre Core. Not only is it good for your body, but it helps to detoxify and get the blood pumping to your skin. Exercise really does work and helps to nourish your skin cells. I workout to feel good about myself and my body, and the results working out just three times a week can have are amazing.
MY NIGHTTIME RITUAL
I try to keep my skincare routine at night pretty simple. I turn on the shower and sprinkle a couple of drops of lavender oil in the shower. The steam from the shower creates a nice aroma that makes you feel really relaxed and ready for bed. Essential oils can work for so many different things, read our ultimate guide before you decide which oil to use in your routine here. I then take my La Roche Posay Face Wash and cleanse my face. Next, I step into the shower and lather myself with a lavender body wash.
This is my moment. I love the feeling of the warm water and the scent of lavender oil. I literally feel the stresses of the day glide away. I fall into this zen moment that gets my mind ready to go to bed. After the shower, I use a body butter from the Bodyshop, the Sunday Riley Luna Oil and a moisturizer with Hyaluronic acid by La Roche Posay.
Because of the combination of Hyaluronic acid and Retinol, I always wake up with noticeably fresh and dewy skin the next day. After this, I brush and floss my teeth. I put a glass of water next to my bed, sprinkle a couple of lavender drops in my aroma diffuser and turn it on for thirty minutes. I swear by lavender in the evening, the mist in my bedroom calms my mind and lulls me into a nice, deep and relaxing sleep.
MY MORNING ROUTINE
Keeping my routines simple and easy to follow is the key to sticking to them. When I wake up, the first thing I do is a workout, for forty-five minutes.
Once I’m done, I will have a morning shower. This time, I use Grapefruit Oil in my shower to energize me and make me feel good after my workout.
I start my skincare routine with a La Roche Posay moisturizer with an SPF 30. I then apply a primer from Laura Mercier, the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation, Maybelline Fit Me Concealer, Nars Orgasm Blush, and a Marc Jacobs Highlighter.
I love to use a liquid highlighter and blush as it gives me a more dewy, fresh look. I then set my foundation lightly with Laura Mercier setting powder. When I go to the office I don’t like my make up to be very noticeable. So I create a minimal makeup look.
To finish off it’s a swipe of Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara and Charlotte Tilbury’s Pillowtalk. I then spritz my favorite perfume, either Tom Ford Noir de Noir or Gourmand EDP in Macaron Rose. Put a bit of Ouai hair oil in my hair, and I’m ready for the day.
