As soon as I get home from work the first thing I do is put my pyjamas back on. It feels soo good to just kick the shoes off my sore feet and fling my bra onto the mounting floordrobe.
There’s nothing more perfect than getting back into bed after a long hard slog at the office and catching up on your fave Netflix series.
The bedroom is a place to relax, retreat and refresh, so of course, you want your boudoir’s decor to reflect this. Here are six bedroom styling tips we’ve learned from Instagram!
Throws Complete Any Bed
A throw adds a final flourish to any bed. Whether you opt for fur, satin or wool, it will no doubt give your room a cosier vibe, making you feel more relaxed and ready to recharge your batteries.
Keep It Bright By Keeping It White
If there’s one thing we’ve learned from Instagram it is that the creme de la creme of bedroom decor posts keep their walls white. White walls create a light and tranquil feel as well as giving the illusion of space when continued with a white ceiling.
You really can’t go wrong with white either – unless you spill red wine over something. Add a little personality to a white room with pops of color in the form of scatter cushions, flowers, and artwork. Think minimalist, but not boring.
I think Instagrammers love motivational wall art almost as much as we do! It’s nice to see a lovely piece of advice from the bedroom wall, especially after painfully rolling out of bed on a Monday morning.
Whether you’re lucky enough to have freshly cut flowers every week, or decide to go faux (some of those flowers do look pretty convincing!), flowers add a splash of color and femininity to any room.
I rarely have flowers in my bedroom, but I currently have a vase of pink and yellow roses on my windowsill, they always make me feel cheery whenever I get a glimpse of them – plus the aroma is lovely! Apparently, the smell of roses is supposed to have a calming effect, can’t complain. You can also bring the outside in with a cool cactus or an Aloe Vera.
Scatter Those Cushions
A bed is the centrepiece of your room and as the focal point it is reflective of your personal style and tastes. Scatter cushions are a great way to express your personality and what kind of vibe/theme you want to give your bedroom. I have a slight obsession with owls, and I like the cottage/kitsch theme, so I have a patchwork owl cushion -obviously. Or if you want to be ultra chic and on trend, opt for a grey x blush pink combo.
Ditch your old fashioned bedside table lamp – you know, the ones with the really annoying switch right up by the bulb – and replace it with something contemporary. At the moment pendant lighting is the way to go; not only will it free up space on your bedside, but your room will look instantly more modern.
