Hey there, coffee hater author here. I’m here to tell you why you don’t need that mug of coffee to get you going every morning. The negative health benefits of the devil’s juice outweigh the positives! So why not turn to this tea instead. Guaranteed to give you more energy than a lousy cup of coffee, nettle tea is the go-to drink no one was expecting.
What is nettle tea?
Nettles are not usually known for it wonderous qualities, but rather something we avidly avoid fearing its sting. Much like Dandelions, we pull out nettles and carelessly throw them away without a second thought. We shower it with weed killer and do everything we can to get rid of the little plant. But the next time you see a little stinging nettle make an appearance, carefully pluck and dry the weed and test out the health benefits for yourself! I know what you’re scared of, the sting right? But don’t worry once you dry or cook nettles the sting leaves, and the plant is safe to consume!

Why should I be drinking it?
Not only is the plant a major health kick but it’s filled with minerals and vitamins and guaranteed to give you a serious energy hit. Nettles are one of the most nutrient-dense plants on the earth.
Energy
It’s early in the morning and you are desperately clinging to your mug ready for some coffee, but why not fill it with some nettle and bring to a boil? This little plant will fill you right up with energy leaving you ready to face the day. So if you are feeling tired, run down or low, boil yourself a cup of nettle tea.
Hayfever
Hayfever is a problem faced by millions of people, and nettle tea can save you from some of the horrible consequences of hayfever. Constantly itching and sneezing can be a real distraction when you’re at work. Or maybe you have a presentation to give and you don’t want to be constantly itching throughout! Nettle tea is a good substitute for antihistamines as they have side effects of drowsiness and dry mouth. So nettle tea is perfect for the Career Girl.
Minerals galore
I’m talking all the vitamins, potassium and magnesium. But the list continues including iron. It was even a treatment for anemia back in the day! So ladies, when the flow hits and iron levels plummet you know to turn to some nettle tea to get the much-needed source of iron. But because of all the minerals and vitamins in this tea, it has been linked to clearer skin and hair growth! Though this is just from word of mouth by loyal fans of the tea
Detoxification
Blooming in spring, this tea can help as a laxative effect (if you drink enough of it!) so help clean out your system in time for summer. But don’t worry the laxative effect is mild and gentle and can help to maintain health in your kidneys! But bare in mind, this substance is also going to get you to pee a lot too!
How to make this magic tea
Are you desperate to try some of this brew now right? Well here’s how you make it. First, make sure you thoroughly wash an ounce of nettles- try to do this without stinging yourself. Then, add a quart of boiling water to the brew, allow this to brew overnight. Then in the morning strain the leaves out and place in the fridge. Now you have a healthy serving in the fridge to be sipped on at all times. Or you know, buy some tea bags from twinings.
