Here are some career tips from Kayla that will help us all be better in 2016…
‘My number 1 tip to incorporating fitness and wellness into a busy schedule is to make small changes and set realistic goals.‘
An average day for me is…
I am an early bird, so I’m up at 5am every day to have breakfast. I then head off to bootcamp to train my amazing clients. This is a pretty normal morning routine for me! I will usually spend the rest of the day working on creating content, speaking to the BBG community and seeing all the girls’ amazing transformations!
My tips for women balancing their life with fitness are…
I think it is important to have a healthy balance of work, exercising, socializing, family and so on. It’s important to be realistic with yourself. I recommend choosing an exercise routine that you love and fits in with your work schedule, so you are more likely to do it consistently. My number 1 tip to incorporating fitness and wellness into a busy schedule is to make small changes and set realistic goals. It doesn’t matter if it’s yoga, going for a walk or trying my workouts on my Sweat With Kayla App it’s about being active and giving it a go.
‘It’s important to be realistic with not only your exercise routine but your diet.‘
My favourite thing about my job is that I get to help girls all over the world on their health and fitness journey. The least favourite aspect of my job is not being able to speak every language in the world! However, my App is available in German, Spanish, French and Italian and I love this as it means these girls have access to the education within the App, which is really important to me.
My motivational words for girls are…
The trick to achieving your health and fitness goals is consistency, dedication and then some more consistency. The more consistent you are, the easier it is for your body to develop a habit. So find something that works for YOU and stick to it. It’s important to be realistic with not only your exercise routine but your diet.
The advice I would give to career girls is…
Only the same advice my parents gave me when I second guessed finishing my personal training course. They asked, “Are you going to stop doing something you love because someone doesn’t like it? So for the rest of your life, if someone doesn’t like something about you, you are just going to stop it or change it to please them? NO! You do whatever YOU want to do and whatever makes YOU happy.” So my advice would be to find something that makes you happy and what you love!
‘I actually had a big fear of public speaking, but I have managed to overcome this with the help of my family, the BBG community and my partner Tobi.‘
The inspiration behind my Instagram account and fitness guides was…
I actually started using Instagram as a personal blog to keep all of my client transformations and home workout videos in one place. My clients motivating and relatable transformations drew the attention from girls around the world who were curious as to how my clients and I were training and achieving these results. It was my clients that inspired me to first develop my Bikini Body Training Guides and now my new Sweat with Kayla app.
The craziest moment of my career was…
The last 14 months have included so many exciting moments, on both my Australian Tour and World Tour. But I’ll never forget walking on stage at Basketball City in New York City in front of 4,000 girls. I was taken away that so many girls had travelled from all over New York and the USA to come and train with me. It was such an overwhelming experience and I think I am SO lucky to be able to train and meet all of these beautiful girls in person.
The hardest part of my career was…
I actually had a big fear of public speaking, but I have managed to overcome this with the help of my family, the BBG community and my partner Tobi. The way I managed it was to confront it head on. I thought, “I know what I’m doing! I train girls every single day. Training girls is not only what I do, it’s who I am”. I realised that what I was scared of was not me or what I was going to do, but what people thought of me. However, when I got on stage in front of 700 people at my first bootcamp in my hometown of Adelaide, I loved it! Yes, I was still petrified, but by acknowledging what I was scared of and having supportive people in my life to remind me that I could do it, i did it!
‘I like to have a healthy snack before going to a party to avoid going overboard on cake or other sweets.’
My beauty tips are…
I have a really simple beauty routine. I don’t really have a long list of beauty essentials, but my I cleanse my face every day and wear sunscreen during the day!
My advice for girls trying to stay healthy this year is…
Don’t abandon your hard earned healthy habits! Whilst I do believe it is okay to indulge occasionally, that doesn’t necessarily mean you should eat the whole pudding! I like to have a healthy snack before going to a party to avoid going overboard on cake or other sweets. It’s also important to stick to your regular exercise routine. While you may be super busy and short on time, it is important to remember that a quick workout is better than none at all.
