CGD’s Guide To Festivals Around The World

Silhouettes of People at Outdoors Music Festival

Festival season is coming up and we are loving it! We started the season with Ultra Miami, and there are many more to come! Nowadays there are so many festivals worldwide, that you can literally spend your summer festival hopping. The atmosphere, people, music and of course festival outfits make it way better than clubbing.

The CGD girls cannot wait for their first festival of the season and therefore we created a list of our 8 favourite festivals!

Kae

#1 – Tomorrowland

The largest electronic festival on our globe. People from all over the world travel to Belgium for this amazing festival. It started in Belgium and now also takes place in the U.S.A. and Brasil. It was always really hard to get tickets for Tomorrowland (long queues online and sold-out in 20 minutes) but definitely worth it! Yes, it is a very commercial festival, but you need to have experienced the madness of Tomorrowland.

#2 – Melt Festival

A big festival close to one of the best cities in the world: Berlin. They describe it as ‘The festival where electronic meets rock’, which pretty much makes this festival interesting for a lot of people. The festival takes place in a huge open-air museum and attracts a lot of young people from all around Europe.

#3 – Coachella

American’s have some good festivals! Coachella is probably one of the most well-known festivals that a lot of people would like to go to. This annual arts and music festival features many genres of music (think indie, pop, rock, electronic, hip-hop) and also has a visual art side, including installation art and sculpture. This festival is on our bucket list and hopefully we will be able to go next year!

#4 – Ultra Festival

One of the best electronic festival’s worldwide, where the best DJ’s in the world perform. The most well-known one takes place in Miami, but this festival is also being held in Spain, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, South Korea, South Africa, Croatia, Colombia and Thailand. Yes, this one is also on the bucket list.

#5 – Wireless

The CGD team is going to Wireless! This festival, in our favourite city London, has the best artists, DJs and bands. Wireless started in 2005 and is now very popular amongst students. This year AVICII, Drake, Mary J. Blige, David Guetta and Jessie J. will be part of the large group of artists that will perform at this festival.

#6 – Sziget

One of the largest music and cultural festivals in Europe that takes place in Hungary. It covers a lot of music genres from rock to reggae and most countries in Europe have a special ‘Sziget Party Train’ that brings you to the festival. With different area’s, e.g. Party Arena, World Stage, Rock Stage, this festival is perfect to go to with a large group of friends.

#7 – EXIT

This festival takes place in Serbia and has a lot of national and international acts. With 220.000 visitors, it belongs to one of the biggest festivals in the world and they won the ‘UK Festival Award’ for Best Major European Festival in 2007.

#8 – Latin Village

Latin house, salsa music and much more! This amazing festival takes place in the Netherlands and is definitely worth a visit. Holland has the best DJs in the world so a big party and good music are guaranteed!
