Cleaning can be tedious, and seriously who can be bothered? If you’re not in one of those moods where you’re getting your life together, and your room then who wants cleaning to overtake your weekend? However, it’s a job that has to be done, whether we like it or not. And of course, we’ve found five cleaning hacks that will leave your house spotless, and have you sat down with your feet up in no time!

Bin the smells, literally

There is absolutely nothing worse than when the trash start to smell. It’s the grossest of tasks. From trying to tie bags up and take them out without fainting to the ground, to dodging the bin juice that drips from god knows where! We’ve got the solution. Add a fresh scent to the kitchen by cutting up a lemon and running a couple of small slices through the garbage disposal. You can even get scented trash liners that are thick and prepared for anything you want to throw in it…

Clean the washing up sponge regularly

Sponges can pick up a lot of bacteria, especially if they’re left in the sink. You do not want that bacteria then being used on dishes and making you ill. It sort of defies the point of washing up, to begin with. So you can add into your regular dishwasher wash or just pop it in the microwave for 30 seconds to remove any bacteria! Just wait a minute or two before pulling out since it’ll still be hot. Cleaner spongers = cleaner dishes.

Cleaning greasy pans

We all know the struggle of cooking meat or sticky substances in a frying pan and leaving it over night. To remove the stubborn grease just fill the pan with water and then add a cup of white vinegar. Bring it to a boil, take it off the stove and then add 2 tablespoons of baking soda. Let it sit for a few seconds so it can cool and then wipe the mixture out of the pan!

Microwave hygiene

Microwaves can get messy, smelly and greasy very easily. However, there is a way to bring it back to being newly clean. Put equal amounts of water and vinegar in a microwave-safe bowl. Then set it on high for 5 to 10 minutes. Wait a couple minutes to let it cool, then when you open it up, all you have to do is wipe down the inside of the microwave with a sponge or paper towel. You can also add lemon to the mixture for a fresh, clean scent!

Shower heads

No one likes a dirty shower head. It looks gross and shows just how much bacteria it can hold. And nobody wants to shower in grime. Wet objects also hold onto more bacteria than dry so try this trick once every fortnight! Tie a plastic bag filled with vinegar over the showerhead and leave it there for an hour or so to remove all the stains.
