I was quite surprised to see Courtney Cox looking cold on a hillside with Bear Grylls. Courtney’s appearance was really inspiring actually. Because she opened up to Bear in Running Wild With Bear Grylls about what it really means to be a woman in the media. It must be tough constantly facing critique, and Courtney definitely handled it like a champ.
“Being a woman in this industry is difficult, and getting older is not the easiest thing. But I have learned lessons.” She told him,
She then addressed the rumors about cosmetic procedures, admitting: “I was trying to keep up with getting older and trying to chase that. It’s something you can’t keep up with. The more you relax with it and the less you try…Sometimes you find yourself trying and then you look at a picture of yourself and you go ‘oh god, I look horrible.’”
“I have done things that I regret and luckily there are things that dissolve and go away. So that’s good because it’s not always been my best look. Now I have a new motto; let it be.”
She also explained that people can be cruel to her on social media, which prompted Bear to tell her that the natural Courtney was amazing and that she had a light in her eyes. It actually made for quite inspiring watching. Courtney admitted her failures and her regrets and told viewers that the only reason she went down those paths was because of the unnecessary pressure women are put under. Renee Zellweger recently penned an essay on the topic, too.
It’s time to end this scrutiny of women in the media and celebrate them instead!
