Today we’re talking about the start of CGD, and our morning routines amongst other things. Don’t forget to pop your questions down below if you want us to answer them next week!

What are your top favorite books?
Asked by Maddy Tav

Beth – Managing Editor

“I studied literature at University so I’m always on the hunt for new, exciting books. My favorite book of all time is Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier, I also love my poetry books, but at the moment you’ll catch me reading crime thrillers. I’m a sucker for anything with a mystery, which is why I write so many fiction lists including them! In terms of non-fiction I love pretty books like Love x Style x Life by Garance Doré and The Fashion Book by Phaidon.”

What’s your daily routine like? From that morning coffee to the book you read before going to bed.
Asked by Sophia

Celina – Creative Director

“My alarm goes off at 7 am every morning. The first thing I do is snooze and lay down for another ten minutes. After that, the first thing I do is check my email, social media, Career Girl Daily and watch my favorite vlogs on YouTube.  When I’m in a good vibe I go to the gym for 30-45 minutes. Take a shower after, do my makeup, get dressed and go to work.

I usually work from 9 am till 6 or 7 pm.  The first thing I do is organize my desk, check my to do’s on Wunderlist and my little notebook. It depends if we have events in the evening or during the day. Usually, I will be on the go with Beth or Lois. Rushing from appointment to appointment.

When I get home the first thing I do is change and wear something comfortable. I prepare a quick and healthy meal and usually, I check comments on CGD and watch a tv show before going to bed.”

Beth – Managing Editor

“The most important part of my morning routine is my workout. My workout is a dynamic warmup, a high-intensity routine, and yoga afterward. I start my ‘getting ready’ phase of the day with moisturizer and a glass of water, then I have cereal, porridge or a smoothie for breakfast.

Every day is different in the CGD world, but once I come home I’ll get into my ugly pajamas and continue working on Career Girl Daily, I try to have as little carbs as possible in home cooked meals (because I’m partial to donuts and burgers and deep fried Mars bars) so my absolute favorite dinner of the moment is creamy mushroom chicken with green beans. I could eat it every day!”

How do you deal with FOMO (supposing you ever get feel it)?
Asked by Katerina

Lois – Sales Director

”I used to be the person that wouldn’t want to miss out on anything happening around her, which resulted in a full agenda, lots of stress and little time to actually enjoy the things I was doing. As I got older, I realized there are choices I need to make and that the FOMO is often an unnecessary feeling. CGD, family, and friends are the most important things in my life at the moment and I try to balance that as good as possible, everything else comes second.”

Beth – Managing Editor

“I don’t often get FOMO, because if I know there’s something I will miss out on I make time to go do it. I will always say yes to a party or a social event, even if I’ve had no rest in weeks and it’s my only day to relax. It’s more important to me to make great memories than anything else. Snapchat gives me FOMO sometimes, for example if I see my friends hanging out without me, but I try just to think of all the amazing times we’ll have when I have time to see them and ignore it.”

What’s the history behind CGD? How did it get started?
Asked by Susan

Celina – Creative Director

“It’s quite funny actually. I just moved to London one and a half years ago. Just graduated and job hunting and hungry for success. At that time, I was missing a website like CGD. I read a lot of motivational books because if they could to it, I could do it. There was no website out there focusing on ‘career girls’. That was it. Lois and I decided to start up Career Girl Daily a website for ‘Career Girls in heels’. We went live on the 15th January 2015 and Beth joined us after 2 weeks.”

Lois – Sales Director

”Celina and I are both really career focused and I remember us discussing the speech of Emma Watson for the UN, our future and personal goals. There are a lot of general career websites, but something especially focused on the lifestyle of ambitious girls was not really out there yet. The idea of Career Girl Daily was born that night and the rest is history ever since.”

P.S The Career Girl Daily App is now live! Download it now on iOS!

  2. I love this website so much, and I was so excited about the app coming out! However it is not yet available in the UK where I live, so I was wondering if you are panning to extend it to Europe as well? That would be much appreciated, thank you!:)
