How To Cut Your Morning Routine By 30 Mins

They say the hardest part of the day is waking up, but I personally disagree. The toughest bit of my day is keeping up with my morning routine while managing to put my foot out of the door at a decent time – and not be (too) late for class.

If you’re anything like me, a morning routine can take up to two hours, especially if you love doing things last minute. To whip your morning routine into shape, here are some easy steps you can follow that will cut it by at least 30 minutes. And you know what that means? More sleep! If you’re really struggling, we have more advice on how to wake up feeling fab here!

1. Smart Up Your Time In The Shower
If taking a shower the night before is really not for you, try to use your shower time more efficiently. Despite the temptation to turn on the hot water and daydream, instead, make an effort to start mentally planning your to-do list.

Also, use the water temperature to your advantage: for a faster shower forget the boiling hot temperatures and turn it down to the point that’s just about comfortable.

A blast of cold will instantly wake you up, save a good 5-10 mins and is supposedly better for your skin!

2. Streamline Your Skincare
Don’t waste your time using 10 different beauty products for your skin. Opt for one multitasking serum, like Clinique Smart Custom-Repair Serum, that will target your blemishes while boosting your skin with vitamin C and peptides.

3. Upgrade Your Brush
It’s time to make your brush game strong (or stronger). For example, a brush like Dafni, the Straightening Ceramic Brush, will help you save loads of time by gently untangling your hair and straightening it at the same time.

4. Prepare Everything Upfront
Before going to bed, I like to lay out my outfit ready for the morning, from undies to shoes, and pack my bag. And if I am being super organized, I might even make my lunch. Never underestimate the power of a super efficient bed routine.

5. Set Yourself A Timer
Okay, this one is for all the organizational queens. Set a timer for all the parts of your morning routine.

This way you will be sure to stay on track (and time) and you will also be more aware of how much time you spend on every bit of your morning routine. If you need any more convincing, make sure to read our article on why being an early riser is so important.

I shower the night before so that really helps especially since I have thick hair that takes a long time to dry. My makeup routine is very low maintenance but if I need to dress it up more, I just wear a bright colored lipstick (usually coral). I don’t do anything different to my foundation or eyes. It takes fives seconds to put on lipstick. I usually only take twenty minutes to get ready in the mornings.

my mother would shower the night before work. I have done so a few times. Now, I’m just gonna go for it. I do 30 minutes yoga and don’t sweat a lot so this will save so much time! Thanks!

The biggest problem with setting more than one alarm is that you up the risk of snoozing.
I tried that one and realised that it was not for me. So if you know that you have a habit of over snoozing set a minimum of alarms.
I will stick to one otherwise I know I won’t be out of bed til noon ;)

I like the idea of prepping everything in advance. I think I just need to make this into a daily habit :) Thanks for sharing!
