Have you ever wondered why professional facials always start with steaming? It’s because this simple technique helps to deep cleanse skin, loosens and dislodges dirt from pores, and improves blood circulation, too. Plus, it’s very relaxing. The best part? You can easily do it at home and here’s how! At CGD, we do love a DIY project, why not try out making this face mask after your steam to rejuvenate your skin to the max.

What you’ll need:

1. Boiling water
2. Mixing bowl
3. A few drops of your favorite essential oil
4. Your favorite herbs and flowers
5. Clean towel

1.

Start with clean skin! So, take off your makeup and remove all the impurities that have accumulated on your skin during the day, but this is just an initial cleanse.

2.

Boil the water, and then pour it into a mixing bowl. Now, mix in your favorite essential oils, herbs, and flowers. Don’t know which ones to choose? Don’t worry, we have you sorted. Parsley and eucalyptus have anti-acne properties. Chamomile soothes irritated skin. Geranium is a natural astringent, so perfect for oily skin. Fennel contains anti-aging and antioxidant properties. Rose petals soften skin. Lavender helps with sleeping troubles. You can quite often pick up these oils from any health store or drugstore. If you get confused over all those skincare ingredients, this article is for you!

3.

Now, it’s time to get comfortable. Sit down, and lean over the bowl of water. Drape a towel over your head to keep the steam in, and your face about a foot from the water, so it won’t get too hot. You don’t want to burn the skin!

4.

Sit over the steam for about 10-15 minutes. Bonus tip: put some soothing music on! It’ll help you relax, and make the time pass much faster, too.

5.

Pat your face dry gently with a clean towel. Finish off with a splash of your favorite toner, and then apply a non-greasy moisturizer to lock all the moisture in.

And that’s it! Simple right? But so effective if you just add in some essential oils and herbs to really feel like you’re pampering yourself. Your face is now all clean and beautifully glowing. If you’re looking for more advice on how to achieve clearer skin, read this article.
