Do This One Thing In The Morning If You Want To Be Healthier

We’re girls on a mission, we want the latest skincare products, our dream career and the healthy, strong body to match. We’re always looking for easy hacks to be healthier, quicker. But the simplest, easiest way you can do this is through early morning hydration. Taking twenty sips of cold water first thing in the morning is the latest tip we’re crazy about. It’s just water, you say, no brainer, but find out exactly why you should be changing your ways for a healthy morning instead:

Place a glass of water by your bed every night

So when you wake up in the morning you can reach and you won’t have to stretch too far. Take full sips of water, twenty times. Not with your toast, not just a quick sip as you run out the front door and not after your morning coffee! Wake up and drink! I know, easy right? Getting healthy never seemed so effortless. By doing this, you’re already waking your body up and dragging your metabolism out of bed too. The instant effects of this? You’ll be fired up for the day, digesting properly and burning twice as many calories! Woohoo!

When you wake up, your body is already at a major disadvantage. It’s dehydrated. Think about it, you haven’t had a drink for eight or so hours, imagine if that was you in the day! So, when most people (like me) wake up, rush out of bed and out the door, they’re losing one percent of water weight, which slows down your metabolism. Also, wonder why you’re super tired in the morning? DEHYDRATED!

But there are many other health benefits to this trick! Just take a look:

It boosts metabolism

Do you ever wake up feeling hungry? That’s your body telling you it’s thirsty, not hungry! Drinking water as soon as you wake up will tell your body the truth. By the time you’re ready to start processing food, so by the time you put in some breakfast, your system’s gears are already turning. It’s been proven to help your body burn fat more quickly.

It makes our skin glow

Making hydration your number one priority is a great way to detoxify the blood and give you skin that glows! It also can help curb breakouts caused by dryness and dehydration.

It helps build a morning routine

Most gurus, from Brene Brown to Tony Robbins to Oprah, all swear by their morning routines. By starting the day with two glasses of water, you’re not only acting in a way that re-affirms that you care about yourself, but you’re also kick-starting your day. Trust us, it’s very difficult to want to hit the snooze button when you’ve just had two glasses of water — you’re far more likely to think, ‘What’s next?’

It keeps you…er, ‘regular’

OK, not the sexiest side effect, but it’s worth noting that a healthy urinary tract is helped by constant hydration. Start your hydration early to keep yourself hydrated and your digestive system on track!
