What Happens When You Try The No-Effort Diet

I believe, in life,  you get out what you put into it. I also believe that life is short and that spending it counting calories is about as fun as an empty fridge on a hangover! So, for the painless route to improving your health and fitness, here is the slackers guide to the ‘no-effort’ diet. You’re welcome!

1. You offset burgers with burpees

Let’s be real. You can’t eat whatever you want, not do any exercise and still have that dream body and lifestyle. You just can’t, not when it takes 51 minutes of grueling cardio to burn off a Big Mac (am I the only one who would find that information more useful on the label than all those statistics?). If you want to indulge more than normal, you’ve got to counteract the extra in exercise. Find something you love and it’s a win-win. Eat a beautiful strawberry frosted donut and a three-mile walk will await you, my friend. But hey, maybe you can go hiking instead… if that’s your kind of thing.

2. You avoid lazy eating

That’s calling out to all you office eating and sofa eating culprits – I see you reader because I’ve been you. If you don’t have biscuits at your desk you won’t find yourself confused when you polish off the last digestive mindlessly. Help yourself out and stock your cupboards with good-for-you foods only; apples, oranges, and kiwis galore! If you can’t be bothered to head out to the shops for those biscuits when the cravings hit, you obviously don’t want them that bad. Am I right? Sometimes laziness can be a powerful tool!

3. You change your mind to change your body

Love what your body is capable of. Exercise to celebrate what it can do, not to punish it for that second donut. Eat fresh fruit to nourish your skin and munch veggies to fuel your body. We’re not saying you have to eat Brussel sprouts- we don’t hate you, but there are plenty of nice veggies out there! So why not give them a go? Indulge in foods you crave and treat yourself to the green superfoods too. Make sure to never skip breakfast and remember to stay topped up on H2O throughout the day to avoid dehydration and overeating.

4. You make sleep and mental health a priority

Hormones play a big part in our body’s chemistry. In fact, poor sleep is one of the strongest risk factors for adult obesity. While excess stress can increase your cortisol levels leading direct to belly fat city. The bottom line: poor sleep and too much stress can screw with your metabolic hormones which can lead to unnatural cravings and an unhealthy weight. Has there ever been a better excuse for a massage and an early night? Dieting. Duh.

The key is to not obsess. Look at food and exercise as nourishment and not punishment and the rest will fall into place.

Exactly Yvonne, we shouldn’t obsessed over the little numbers on the packaging on our food, we just need to eat delicious and nutritious foods, but still remember to treat ourselves! Glad you liked the article, do you have any tips of your own? x

I like the last one a lot — people underestimate the power of self-care and its connection to health. I would argue though… what’s with the bad rep around brussel sprouts?! Some olive oil, a little salt, and 20 minutes in the oven is roasted perfection!

Brussels sprouts are only acceptable on one day of the year in my book and that day is Christmas! But for you, I’ll give it ago! Love your blog layout babe x
